Boat ride through the Dutch canal Negombo Lagoon - This was at one time an important link in the transportation route which supplied the Dutch colonial administration. you could get the historical experience while you are traveling by boat. The canal itself is a hive of activity with all the fishermen traveling up and down in their gaily painted boats. On the shores of the canal, you will find many homes and churches and many species of birds.
You will continue your ride through the Canal to the lagoon which is surrounded by a densely-populated region containing rice paddies, coconut plantations, and grassland. The lagoon has extensive mangrove swamps and attracts a wide variety of water birds including cormorants, herons, egrets, gulls, terns and other shorebirds.
Dambulla Cave temple is one of the most impressive and well-preserved cave temples in Asia. This complex contains five caves with over 2000 sqm. of painted walls and ceilings. This emphasizes the artistic talents of the people lived in this small island. Due to its artistic & archaeological values, Dambulla Cave temple has been listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.
You will cycle approximately 43km from Negombo to Dambadeniya
The UNESCO World Heritage City of Polonnaruwa, which was the medieval capital of Sri Lanka. You will be cycling about 10km on soft surfaces as you whizz between the ruins. The ancient heart of Sri Lanka. An important royal capital with its well-preserved 12th century ruins & impressive stone culture recalls an inspired past. Although nearly 1000 years old, it is much younger than Anuradhapura and generally in better repair. The monuments are arranged in a reasonably compact garden setting and their development is easier to follow.
This Village tour begins with a short walk along to a man-made reservoir. This beautiful village is surrounded by scrub jungle, marshlands, and agricultural farms. The amazing birdlife, butterflies and possible sightings of crocodile only add to the charm of seeing the villagers as they go about their early morning tasks of fishing, or washing clothes at the periphery of the lake. Cycling in Hantana is a challenging expedition with rough terrains. You will start cycling in top of the Hantana mountain and cycle through Tea Plantation to Galaha Junction through one of the most scenic routes. Total cycling ride approximately 18 Km that last for 2 – 3 hours. While you are riding, you can experience Tea Plucking, living style of tea planters, & a Hindu Temple before reaching the Ceylon Tea Museum that is one of the best museums of its kind in the world. You will get a chance to visit machinery and objects that are more than 100 years old followed by a cup of Pure Ceylon Tea.
Kandy, also Known as the hill capital or Hill country, is the last stronghold of Sinhalese kings after Portuguese, Dutch and British ruling periods. To the Buddhists of Sri Lanka and the World, Kandy is one of the most sacred sites as it is the home of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. The Bahirawakanda Buddha stature that is known as big Buddha is one of the most scenic places in the city. The Kandy Lake that was built by king Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1807 is one of the major highlights in the city. The upper lake drive is more scenic and memorable. Cycling in Hantana Tea Plantation
Also visit Ramboda waterfalls. It is 109 m (358 ft.) high and has recommended as the 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and 729th highest waterfall in the world. It formed by Panna Oya which is a tributary of Kothmale Oya. Altitude of the falls is 945m (3,100 ft.) above sea level. Don’t forget to visit Ramboda main waterfall at the downside of the Ramboda of Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka.
