Part of the magnificence of Angkor is filled in an amazing half-day to the Angkor Thom, one of the highlights of the whole complex.
Enter Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Khmer Empire, aboard an open-air tuk tuk, or remork, the classic way to get around Siem Reap without a window in sight.
Passing through the South Gate, the tour heads first to the Bayon, the 12th century temple at the very centre of Angkor Thom, known for the more than 200 serene stone faces carved across its 54 towers. From there, walk the short distance to the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King, once part of the royal enclosure, before a stop at the Baphuon, where a dress code applies as it remains a revered royal site.

1Angkor Thom South Gate
This half-day tour will visit some of Angkor’s most well-known temple ruins, and we will use a traditional Remork (Cambodian motorized tuk-tuk) to venture into centuries of history. Your guide and Remork driver will wait for you at your hotel, and we head straight to the main entrance of the Angkor temples. Entry into the expansive realms of the Jayavarman kings of old requires an entrance pass (included in the touring option). After this, we enter the heart of the Angkor temples and drive via the South Gate of Angkor Thom to admire the beauty and learn all there is to know.

2Angkor Thom
Angkor Thom is the last capital of the Khmers, with its Elephant Terrace, the Terrace of the Leper King and the stunning Bayon temple. This 12th-century masterpiece lies at the very centre of Angkor Thom and is an archaeological wonder of symmetry and grandeur. The exterior gallery walls have extensive bas-reliefs, but the highlights are its 218 faces.

3Bayon Temple
Part of the Angkor Thom is one of Angkor' most distinctive monuments, the Bayon. Known for its 200-plus faces, silent but with the famous half-smile playing on their lips, this former temple is an unmissable stop. Erected by Jayavarman VII, The Bayon (literally “Great City”) is located in the geographical heart of Angkor Thom. The fifty four-tower temple is quite a remarkable sight: it forms a three-tiered pyramid with 54 towers, each dominated by over 4-metres high, mysterious faces facing out to the south, north, east and west. The Bayon is easily the most popular sight after Angkor Wat, and no visit is complete without a trip to see this unique temple.

4Phimeanakas
Phimeanakas Temple within the Royal Palace enclosure (pending renovation work) Baphuon Temple, the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King belong to the whole complex and are within easy walking distance of each other. After seeing some of the amazing details put into these temples that have withstood the test of time, our Remork driver brings you back to your hotel in Siem Reap.

- The Bakan tower is allowed only 100 persons once, so visitors have to line up if you wish to climb the tower.

- Ongoing renovation and restauration work may see parts of the Angkor Thom temples covered up without prior notice. We regret we cannot confirm in advance when certain aspects of the renovation projects will see completion.
