Cruise Bangkok's hidden canals by longtail boat, visit Wat Arun and lesser known temples, and discover Chinese and Portuguese heritage at Santa Cruz Church on this private 4 hour journey through the city's waterways.
Step off the well worn Klong tour route and into the Bangkok that most visitors never see. This 4 hour longtail boat journey follows the canals of Thonburi, where daily life along the water has changed little in generations.
Board a traditional longtail boat on the Chao Phraya River and glide past Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, before continuing by tuk tuk to Wat Hong Rattanaram, a temple dating to the late Ayutthaya period. Visit Wat Pichaiyatikaram, notable for its Chinese style roofline, then step inside Santa Cruz Church to see the Portuguese and Chinese influences that shaped this riverside community.
Guided throughout by an English speaking guide, this small scale outing reveals communities, temples and architecture rarely seen on standard city tours.

Itinerary

Duration: 4 hours (approximately)
  • 1
    Chao Phraya River

Boarding a long-tailed boat along Chao Phraya River, this tour takes you along colorful sceneries and the busy daily life of Bangkokians, through waterways transportation. On the way, make a visit to Wat Arun, known as Temple of Dawn, one of the most famous icons of Bangkok. Afterwards, board a Tuk Tuk to Wat Hong Rattanaram, a temple built during the late Ayutthaya period on the banks of the Khlong Bangkok Yai by a rich Chinese named Hong. The temple was named after its benefactor, hence the names Wat Hong, Wat Chao Sua Hong or Wat Chao Khrua Hong. When King Taksin decided to locate his new capital further in Thonburi area, he patronized this temple in the royal support since it was a religious educational centre. The temple received a major renovation during King Rama III, with the principal Buddha statue in Lan Xang art style enshrined and named "Phra Saen".
