From a legendary princess's tomb to a beach of black sand and a 12-metre eagle sculpture overlooking the sea, Langkawi's landmarks tell a story beyond its famous beaches. This half-day private island tour reveals the cultural, historical, and natural layers of the island at a leisurely pace.
Begin at the Batik Art Village, where wax, cloth, and dye transform plain fabric into some of Malaysia's most elaborate handicraft. Continue to the Mahsuri Tomb, a beautifully maintained site dedicated to Langkawi's most celebrated historical figure. A stop at Black Sand Beach showcases a rare coastal phenomenon before passing an authentic fishing jetty still active with daily catches.
The tour ends at Eagle Square in Kuah Town, where the island's iconic eagle sculpture overlooks the Strait of Malacca, followed by time to browse Kuah's duty-free shops at your own pace.
Note: this tour is operated with a driver only, without a dedicated guide. Entrance fee to Mahsuri Tomb is included.
We can pick up from only hotels in most popular Langkawi regions i.e. Kuah Town, Cenang, Tengah and Kok. Transfer outside these areas, supplements apply.
Your English speaking guide cum driver welcomes you at your resort along selected beaches on Langkawi at around 09:00 hrs. This tour starts with a visit to the Batik Art Village. Batik has been a long-established landmark in the Malaysian handicraft industry: its techniques and motives are still cherished up until today and an example of how wax, cloth and dyeing are used to turn plain-looking fabric in the most elaborate examples of Malaysian heritage are shown right here.
After admiring some of the ready-made materials, we continue to the Mahsuri Tomb, dedicated to an icon in Langkawi’s history. Details about this and the intricate history of the Princess Mahsuri and how she has contributed to the development of Langkawi are explained at this well-maintained centre and burial place.
A unique phenomenon that has formed along the coastline is a stretch called Black Sand Beach: as the name implies, dark sands form a different type of beach scene yet adds to the variety where Langkawi is well-known for. The nearby fishing jetty is an authentic example of how fishing boats moored along Langkawi’s coast line to load off their fresh haul before making it back onto the open ocean.
Langkawi is tightly connected with the eagle: a symbol of endurance and perseverance that not only manifests itself when sailing along its rivers and through its mangroves (not included). Eagle Square nearby Kuah Town is one of the most prolific landmarks of the island, a 12-meter high brown sculpture overlooking the ocean.
We end the morning with a duty-free shopping experience through Kuah Town before heading back to your booked resort along Langkawi.
