Discover the coastal cities of Sri Lanka on this 4-day tour. Travel in a private vehicle with a driver/guide and make your way along the beaches of the southern coast. Explore Hikkaduwa with its moonstone mine, Kosgoda Turtle Farm, and the historical Galle Fort. Whale-watch in Mirissa and go on a safari in Yala National Park. You will be picked up at the Bandaranaike International Airport or from the hotel you are already residing in Colombo.
What to expect
The next day, drive to Hikkaduwa, with its pristine beaches and exciting nightlife. Visit a moonstone mine and see where the semi-precious stones of Sri Lanka’s gem industry come from. The finest are bluish in color and found in high concentrations between Ambalangoda and Hikkaduwa. Stop by Kosgoda Turtle Farm and it’s possible to see the hatching of large amounts of new born turtles. Partake in a Maduganga boat safari and pause along the way at small cinnamon islands. Spend the night at a hotel in Mirissa.
Wake up early at 5:30am the next morning to go whale watching in Mirissa. Afterward, drive to the Hummanaya Blow Hole, a natural rock formation with water gushing straight up. Admire the traditional stilt fishermen hauling their catch. Continue on to Yala, and participate in a safari in Yala National Park. Stay overnight at a Yala hotel.
On your final day, take advantage of free time to explore at your leisure. At the conclusion of the tour, you’ll return to your hotel or Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo.
