To celebrate in an unusual and unique way, join us in the Capuchins Convent Hall for a special Christmas Baroque Concert, performed "a cappella" by the prestigious Schola Romana Ensemble.
This event truly embodies the spirituality of Christmastime, through the power of sacred music, and features a tour of the Capuchin Museum and Crypt that will guide you through the history and devotion of the Franciscans.
The musical program features music of the Sistine Chapel by Palestrina, Arcadelt, Morales; Gregorian chants performed live by Schola Romana Ensemble, our resident historically informed music group.
After the concert, you will be escorted to the Capuchin Museum and Crypt to tour independently with the aid of an audioguide, available in 13 languages.
You will have a chance to admire "Saint Francis in Meditation", an absolute masterpiece by Caravaggio, and to be raptured by the 4000 bones of Capuchin friars that make up the stunning decorations of the Crypt.
Our staff will wait for you at the entrance of the Capuchins Convent (entrance from Casa per Ferie I Cappuccini, Via Veneto 21).
Visit Santa Maria Immacolata, the Capuchins’ 17th-century church near Piazza Barberini on Via Veneto, famous from Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita. Admire masterpieces by Guido Reni, Domenichino, Pietro da Cortona, Gherardo delle Notti, and others. Tour the Crypt-Museum, decorated with 4,000 friars’ bones, and see Caravaggio’s La meditazione di S. Francesco.
