We will cross the path of the Via degli dei, the ancient Via Flaminia Minor, the Etruscan road that crossed the Apennines mountains at least 200 years BC. Along the way a brief stop at a true local farms to get and eat, as is tradition ever since I was a child, bread, a very good local extra virgin olive oil, vegetables and fresh fruit in season and drink red house wine.

Thanks to its elevated position, Fiesole has always been one of the most popular places for Florentines and tourists to enjoy the view over Florence and the Arno valley, but also to look out over the wonderful Tuscan countryside that surrounds the village. Fiesole is only 4 miles away from the center of Florence but outside the city, making it the best starting point to really explore the Tuscan countryside without going too far from the town but away from crowded places.
The hilltop town of Fiesole has panoramic views of Florence away from the crowds. The Renaissance City and all her vibrant terracotta rooftops and towers are as visible atop Fiesole, as they are if you were standing at Piazzale Michelangelo in Florence itself, only with far fewer people admiring her gorgeous view.
