Drive towards West Georgia. You’ll start your tour with visit to Uplistsikhe cave town dating back to 1st millennium BC. The town is identified as one of the oldest settlements in Georgia and is remarkable for the combination of Anatolian and Iranian cultures.
Continue and drive through Rikoti pass. After arrival in Kutaisi drive to Gelati Monastery and Academy. The complex was found by the Greatest King of Georgia David the Builder in the beginning of the 12th century and earned high religious and cultural importance for ages. The main church was painted with frescoes between 12th – 17th centuries. Gelati Monastery and Academy is included in UNESCO World Heritage Sites list.
Drive back to Kutaisi and visit Bagrati Cathedral – another UNESCO World Heritage Site. The cathedral was found in 11th c. and named after King Bagrat III – the first King of unified Georgian Kingdom. In the evening take a walk in Kutaisi city.
After breakfast at the hotel, meet the guide and driver and continue your journey to Martvili canyons located in Samegrelo region with the total length of 2400 meters and depth of 20-40 meters. Over millions of years, the Abasha river has created magnificent gorge in limestone rocks, reaching a depth of 40 meters, with canyons, caves and waterfalls. Only small part of the canyon is open to visitors. There are stretches of quiet water for peddling and swimming, but also steep rocks to climb, spectacular waterfalls to enjoy and caves to explore.
Continue to the Okatse Canyon-famous for its magnificent wild nature, astonishing waterfalls and breathtaking views. Located in the Western Georgia, near the village of Gordi, the canyon runs roughly for 14 kilometers, width ranges from 3-6 to 15-20 meters, while its depth is between 20-100 meters. Okatse pedestrian trail passes through Dadiani forest, an exciting 780m-long walkway hanged on a cliff and leads you to the viewing platform that hangs right out over the middle
After breakfast at the hotel drive to Prometheus grotto - one of the largest caves in Georgia open to travelers. It includes various types of stalactites, stalagmites, curtains, petrified waterfalls, cave pearls, underground rivers, and lakes.
Head to Sataplia karst caves. Take a walking tour in Sataplia nature reserve. The place is famous for containing dinosaur footprints which are conserved on the territory of the museum. Afterwards drive back to Tbilisi to your place of stay.
