Meet the guide and driver at your place of stay in Tbilisi and depart to West Georgia via main highway. First visit J. Stalin’s house-museum located in the town of Gori. The museum presents items belonging to J. Stalin – leader of the Soviet Union.
Afterwards drive to Uplistskhe cave town. Uplistsikhe is the first settled area mentioned in manuscripts dating from 2nd millennium BC and translates in English as “the fortress of God”. The town was an important point on the trade route linking Byzantium, India and China. Nowadays archaeological excavations uncovered several layers dating from Early Iron Age to the late Middle Ages.
Continue driving to the West via Rikoti Pass.
Arrive in Kutaisi, the historic former capital and the third-largest city in Georgia. Enjoy a walking tour through the central square and the charming streets of the old town.
After breakfast visit Bagrati Cathedral dating back to 11th c and named after the first King of united Georgia – Bagrat the Third. The site is included in UNESCO World Heritage sites list. The cathedral stands on a hill and overlooks the city of Kutaisi.
Continue to the Imereti Protected Areas to explore Prometheus Cave, a stunning natural wonder featuring impressive karst formations with stalactites, stalagmites, an underground river, and a lake. A boat ride through the cave is available, depending on the river's water level.
