Walking among the Penguins - USHUAIA

We offer two departures daily: one way by bus and the other way by boat.
Both options include a visit to the legendary Estancia Harberton, always accompanied by our specialized guides. Upon arrival at the estancia, we board a semi-rigid boat for a scenic 15-minute navigation from the pier to Martillo Island.
On the island, we enjoy a one-hour guided walk among Magellanic and Gentoo (Papua) penguins, observing them in their natural habitat. During the summer months, the island also hosts a variety of seabirds, including skuas (the penguins’ main predator), petrels, cormorants, vultures, and South American terns.
Martillo Island is home to Magellanic penguins from September to April, with an estimated 1,000 nests, making it one of only three Magellanic penguin colonies in Tierra del Fuego. The island also shelters a small and remarkable colony of approximately 16 breeding pairs of Gentoo penguins, easily recognized by their red-orange beaks—a unique presence in South America.
When we sail through the Beagle Channel we will visit the sea lions, the birds and the lighthouse islands as well.
