A museum that preserves and displays 25 Gassho-zukuri buildings, including 9 that are designated as prefectural important cultural properties. In addition to the main house, there are shrines, the main hall of the temple, and a watermill, and you can even tour the attic of the main house. Among them, the Yamashita family is one of the few remaining 18th-century gassho-zukuri houses in Shirakawa Village.
nagase house is a 5-story Gassho style house, and on the first floor there is a magnificent Buddhist altar said to be made 500 years ago, as well as works of art and fixtures on display.
It is one of the largest gassho-zukuri structures in the world heritage area, and is the only one designated as an important national cultural property. Explore inside Gassho-style houses open to the public. (Wada House)
It is a medieval mountain castle built on a steep cliff, and is the best photo spot with an exceptional view of the Shirakawa-go gassho-zukuri village spreading out below.
