These kukuri monkeys are meant to warn people against selfishness, and it is said that if you pray for patience with your own desires, your wishes will come true.
Sanneizaka / Ninenzaka: This slope is part of the approach to Kiyomizu-dera Temple and is said to have been used by Kitamasato, the wife of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Together with Nichinenzaka and Sanneizaka, it is designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings in Kyoto City. The winding stone pavement and stone steps are flanked by old-fashioned buildings, and the area is known as the center of sightseeing in Kiyomizu.
Kiyomizu Temple: "This is a World Heritage temple representing Kyoto. In addition to being a popular temple for tourists, it is also a popular place for pilgrims to see the main image of the temple, which saves people with its mercy. The “Kiyomizu no Butai” (stage of Kiyomizu), built to jut out from the mountainside, offers a panoramic view of the beautiful city of Kyoto.
