Nat'elier is a premier Pastel de Nata store in downtown Lisbon, run by chef João Batalha. For the masterclass, you just have to come to our store in the historical heart of Lisboa, and ask about the masterclass at the counter.

What to expect

Since 2018, this is Portugal's only cooking class in a real bakery, taught by a professional pastry chef!

This masterclass can be hosted by award-winning chef João Batalha, co-founder of Pastel de Nata concept store Nat'elier, or other experienced in-house pastry chefs such as Silvia Sousa or Adriano Cardoso.

After gearing up you'll go inside our pro kitchen where you'll learn how to bake the irresistible Portuguese Custard Tarts (aka Egg Tarts) everybody loves! The workshop starts with an intro to the history of Pastel de Nata.

This is HANDS-ON experience! Unlike other classes of Pastéis de Nata around Lisbon, we will show you how to make puff pastry from scratch. We make the custard and bake it all inside a professional oven. Everyone will get to make at least 3 tarts by hand - learn how to laminate the dough, shape it with a specific Pastel de Nata technique, fill in the custard...

We'll end tasting the warm tarts with a drink of choice.
