Basilica Papale e Sacro Convento di San Francesco d'Assisi

Basilica of Saint Francis The main highlight is the Basilica of Saint Francis, the goal of countless pilgrimages, whose Crypt contains the tomb of the Saint. Artists from all over Italy, such as Giotto, Cimabue, and Simone Martini, frescoed the dark vaulted Lower Church.
