The Cathedral of Matera is located on the highest point of the city, in the "Civita" district, from the Cathedral you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Sasso Barisano. The building dates back to the 13th century and stands on the ruins of the ancient Benedictine monastery of St. Eustace. Since 1627 the Cathedral has been dedicated to the Madonna della Bruna and St. Eustace, protectors of the city of Matera. The visit is from the outside.

Piazza Vittorio Veneto is the main access point to the Sassi and the most important square in the historic centre of Matera. Crossroads of the streets of the city centre, of the elegant via del Corso with its shop windows and bistros, of the typical via delle Beccherie that leads to the Duomo, of the most exciting view of the Sassi. A breathtaking panorama that dominates the landscape of the millenary city from above.
