    Musee de la Kasbah

    Musee de la Kasbah is a museum and archeological site near the medina of Tangier. It was the home of Sultan Moulay Hassan I from 1672 until his death in 1727. The Kasbah is located in the medina at the entrance to a narrow street called "Kasbah Street. A site of multilayered cultural and historical significance. This historic center of the city has been carefully restored to its 18th-century glory and houses an impressive collection of local art and architecture.

    The Grande Mosquée of Tangier was the first mosque in Morocco, an architectural wonder and historic landmark in the heart of the Old Town. Now a National Heritage site, it remains one of the country’s most popular tourist attractions and a symbol of the city. The mosque was founded in 859 on the site of an earlier church that was converted into a place of worship after Mohammed’s arrival in Morocco. It has been rebuilt and remodeled many times since then, and is now known as the Grande Mosquée El-Mansouria.

The city was established by ʻAbd al-Malik, the fifth Umayyad caliph of Damascus, and served as the capital of Morocco under Al-Muʻmin's rule from 1146 to 1152. The medina is an art hub, known for its murals and Moussem Culturel International d’Asilah, an annual festival.
