    Palazzo Vecchio

    Palazzo Vecchio is the symbol of the Florentine Republic and it's one of the most important monuments in Italy. This palazzo was built by Arnolfo di Cambio, but it was redesigned by Michelangelo Buonarroti and Vasari in 1560. The façade is divided into two sections: the first one has a balcony with a loggia, which is decorated with sculptures and reliefs; the second one has three portals with round arches. The interior of Palazzo Vecchio is divided into four parts: the Great Council Hall, where you can find some paintings from Giotto; the Hall of Five Hundred, which was used as legislative assembly by Florentine Republic; and finally two courtyards.     Palazzo Medici Riccardi is one of the most important Renaissance palaces in all of Italy. It was built by the famous architect, Michelozzo di Bartolomeo for Cosimo de’ Medici, who had been exiled from Florence because of his support for the anti-Medicean faction. The palace is now a museum and has been open to visitors since 1966. It features many rooms that are decorated with frescoes and sculptures by some of the most famous artists of the time such as Benozzo Gozzoli, Domenico Ghirlandaio, and Lorenzo di Credi.
