Every year, during the Maha Shivaratri festival, thousands of pilgrims walk long distances carrying decorated kanwars to honor Lord Shiva in a moving display of devotion. Around the lake stands a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, along with shrines to other deities such as Hanuman and Lakshmi, and the towering statue of Lord Shiva welcomes visitors.
