Just a few minutes away from all the hustle and bustle of Sarasota is our favorite local beach, Turtle Beach. It is only a few short miles from the main Siesta Key beach to Turtle Beach and the Sarasota County trolley will drop you right there. Not only is this area such a beautiful and quiet place, it is also a great place to paddle!

We start on the intercostal and paddle down a short canal to the Bay. We paddle around the mangrove islands through a mangrove tunnel or two and alongside a bird rookery.

We paddle around the mangrove islands of Jim Neville Marine Preserve and then to a "secret" beach. This beach is only accessible by boat so we may have it to ourselves. Such a beautiful place for a quick swim or just stopping for a few moments to relax. You may want to stay here all day.

This location is home to all kinds of wildlife including manatees, dolphins, beautiful sea and shorebirds and lots of fish.

Itinerary

Duration: 2 hours (approximately)
  • Jim Neville Marine Preserve (Pass by)

We will paddle through the Jim Neville Preserve and around beautiful mangrove islands, where the water is often crystal clear and the scenery feels calm and tucked away from the crowds. Instead of one straight route, we weave through protected waterways and open pockets of water, giving you a mix of peaceful nature, great photo moments, and plenty of chances to spot birds, fish, rays, and other local wildlife. Our guides keep it easygoing and beginner-friendly, with helpful tips along the way so everyone feels comfortable.

We’ll stop at Midnight Pass Beach (or a nearby sandbar, depending on the current) to stretch our legs and explore. This beautiful shoreline was newly shaped by the 2024 hurricanes, making it a dynamic place that can look a little different from week to week. It’s one of our favorite spots to search for seashells and shark teeth, and if you’d like, you can take a quick swim in the clear, refreshing water.
