It’s also known as the “rice bowl” of the country, the rice production of this province alone is enough to make Cambodia self-sufficient in terms of food. Arrive Battambang around 10:00 am, take the city tour orientation along Steung Sangké River, and the colonial buildings including the governor’s house. Continue to the striking hilltop temples of Phnom Sampeau, this massive limestone outcrop is dissected by a number of caves some more accessible than others, with some containing unexpected reminders of Cambodia’s history. Enjoy the bamboo train ride at Phnom Banan to experience how Cambodian farmers creating bamboo train for daily transport. Drive back through the old town of Battambang.
