    Umaid Bhawan Museum

Situated on Chittar Hill, the construction of the Umaid Bhawan palace took a duration of 14 years with 2000-3000 people employed to build it. This palace was originally built to help farmers by employing them during a period of drought and famine of three consecutive years during the 1920’s.  King Umaid Singh commissioned a British architect, Henry V. Lanchester, to design the golden-yellow sandstone palace – having an ‘Indo-Deco’ architectural style he used an extraordinary blend of Western technology and Indian architectural features. Mehrangarh Fort Known for its beautiful architecture, the Mehrangarh Fort is one of the largest forts in India, built around 1460 by Rao Jodha, one year after he was credited with the origin of Jodhpur.
