Jvari Monastery - Georgian Orthodox monastery near Mtskheta (World Heritage site). The name is translated as the Monastery of Cross.

    The City-Museum Reserve of Mtskheta

    After your breakfast we will meet you at your hotel and will visit Mtskheta.Mtskheta was the ancient capital of the Eastern Georgian Kingdom from the Third Century BCE to Fifth Century CE. It was also the location where Christianity was proclaimed as the kingdom’s official religion and continues to function as the headquarters of the Georgian Orthodox Church. The city is very small and is just a 20 minute drive from the capital of Tbilisi.very near from Svetitskhoveli there is saint Gabriel grave and we will visit it too.

According to the legend the former catholicos Kirion transferred the body of the saint Shushanik to this church in 7th century.
