Visiting the Generalife, Alcazaba and Albayzin quarter is a must for every curious traveler. Nasrid Palaces ARE NOT INCLUDED in this expercience but anyway, this is an a very impresive tour to understand the Moorish Granada

The esence of the city is in the Albaicin, in its labyrinthine streets full of legends.

The neighborhood of Albayzin, declared a World Heritage Site in 1984, was the origin of the current city of Granada, still retaining all the magic of its Arabic past. Narrow streets and white houses built at random, the famous Cármenes of Granada.

This tour is a perfect complement to the visit of the Generalife and the Alcazaba, as it allows us to see how the Arab and Christian culture are intermingled in the city and how beautiful is Granada from the other side.

This is a late afternoon tour. Your starting time will always ensure to enjoy the sunset.

Not to miss a charming bar, while having tapas and drinkings.. This is something that the guide will recommend you

    Generalife

The Generalife was an almunia with gardens next to the Alhambra of Granada. The name, from a dubious source, seems to come from the Arabic Yanat-al-Arif or Garden of the Architect , in a clear poetic-religious symbolism that alludes to God, Allah, as architect, creator of the Universe

    Alcazaba

The Alcazaba, a fortress, is one of the oldest part of the Alhambra. It is thought that before it was built and before the Muslims arrived to Granada, there were already several constructions in the same area. The first historical reference to the existence of the Alcazaba dates from the 9th century and it is believed that it was then built by Sawwar ben Hamdun during the fights between Muslims and muwalladins. he Alcazaba became a real fortress, where the king established the royal residence. His son Mohammed II also had his residence in the Alcazaba, until the palaces were finished. From then on, the Alcazaba was only used as a fortress for military purposes.

    Palace of Carlos V

Already owner of America, Emperor Charles V moved his court to the royal houses of the Alhambra, to spend on them the summer of 1526. Then he was born in the Emperor's desire to make Granada one of its points of residence, so he planned to build a new palace with more comfort and more space than Arabic, but connected to it to continue to enjoy it, thereby continuing the work -the started by their grandparents Reyes Catholics, and the desire to turn this great courtly palace in the center of the Empire. That was indeed one of the finest Renaissance works that are outside Italy and the first major royal palace of the Spanish monarchs.
