Piazza Armerina: The Villa of Casale, declared UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997, was likely a hunting lodge belonging to the Emperor Massimiliano or a powerful Roman nobleman. The importance of the villa to the global nature is due to the impeccable condition of the mosaics, also considered the largest and most beautiful ever built in Roman times.
