Kyrenia is located in the north of the island. You have to drive thru the 'Kyrenia Mountain Range' to see the most interesting Abbey which is called 'Bellapais Monastery'
'Kyrenia Castle' is located in Kyrenia harbor which will be our second stop of the day where you will see the Shipwreck Museum. In the museum the shipwreck dates back to 300BC. Many items that were found in the ship are also exhebited.
After a short walk in the harbor and in the back streets of Kyrenia we drive to the capital of the island which is known as Nicosia. The old city is surrounded with high walls from Lusignan and Venetian time.We'll enter the walled city of from Kyrenia Gate.
Venetian Column, St. Sophia Cathedral, Buyuk Han are some of the fascinating sites that we'll see today. You will also have some free time to take photos and do some shopping from the local market.

Ledra Palace Border crossing at the North side in Nicosia
It was built on the cliff of Kyrenia Mountains of a 220m.above the attitude. The first occupants known to have settled on or near the site were the Canons Regular of the Holy Sepulchre, who had fled Jerusalem after its fall in 1187 to Salahaddin Eyyubi. One of the nicest structures in the Middle East. Many additions were made for centuries. It was no longer is use after the Ottoman conquest of 1570. A lot to tell about.
A beautiful castle which was built during the Byzantion period. Many additions were made during the Lusignan, Venetian, Ottoman and Colonial Period. The Shipwreck Museum which is also in the castle is a place that must be visited which is located on the harbor. The shipwreck dates back to 300BC with many items that were found in the ship.
After driving from Kyrenia we arrive at Nicosia. The old city of Nicosia is surrounded with walls. These walls were made during the Lusignan period.The walls were made stronger during the Venetian period. At that time there were only 3 Gates to enter the walled city. Kyrenia Gate was one of these gates. The dome of the gate was made during the Ottoman period. The dates and the initals that you see on the gate are from the Colonial period which I will tell you all about during our visit.
This is the area of houses that was built in the 19century for the people who were in need. A specila architecture and also a fountain in the centre of the buildings.
It was brought to the centre of Nicosia during the Venetian period from salamis Ruins. Later when English came they took the symbol of lion and replaced a'globe' on top of the pillar. It is still in the centre of the walled city of Nicosia.
It is one of the Han( Kervansaray) that was built in the year of 1571 by Muzaffer Pasha. It has a mescit in the centre( a praying place) for Moslems. The animals(camels) were staying on the first ground and the people on the upper level. Nowadays it is one of the main attractions of the area with its lace works handcrafts and local tastes for food. You will have free time also in this historical sight for lunch and shopping.
It was built during the Lusignan period and was named as ' St. Sophia Cathedral'. This is where they were crowned as the King of Cyprus. After 1570 minarets were added and it was called 'Ayosofya Camii' and after 1954 its named as Selimiye Camii.
This is the local market which was built in 1932. Recently it has been restorated and is still one of the attractions at the area.
We'll walk in the horse shoe shaped marina which was built during the Venetian time. You will see the chain tower and will have time to take photos while you enjoy the beautiful scenery.
The city is surrounded with the Medieval Walls during the Lusignan period. This is one of the Gates which is located on the Northern part of the city. A lot more to tell about it while you take the photos.
