Breakfast & join for guided cultural tour around the historical UNESCO World Heritage sites of Kathmandu, PASHUPATINATH Temple- a famous Hindu pilgrimage site in Kathmandu located on the bank of Holy Bagmati River & houses a sacred lingum, or the phallic symbol of Lord Shiva. You will also witness the open Cremation ritual across the Holy Bagmati River beside the main Pashupatinath Temple. Next visit SWYAMBHUNATH Stupa- the oldest Buddhist Shrine founded in Nepal & situated on a hilltop overlooking the whole Kathmandu valley. Widely popular as Monkey Temple among foreigner, a large number of Monkey make their home around the Stupa & surrounding Jungle. Later we visit Patan Durbar area – One of the three major cultural & heritage center in Kathmandu Valley. Patan Durbar area is enriched with tradition arts, wood- metal- stone works. You can see the best of fine arts on hundreds of Temple & stupas in the town. There are several famous temples & stupas in town including popular Krishna Temple, Bangalamukhi Temple & Bouddha Vihars.
Early morning fly to Bhutan (Please check the flight time). Upon your arrival in Paro airport our guide will be there to welcome you and transfer to Thimphu. After Lunch visit the Memorial Chorten (temple) built in memory of the late 3rd King. Visit Changangkha Lhakhang, the oldest temple in the valley offering a nice view of the valley. Enclosure where national animal, Takins are kept and drive to visit the largest and newly built statue of Buddha offering magnificent view of entire Thimphu valley. Later visit the fortress of Thimphu, Tashichho Dzong, which houses the throne of the king if time permits.
Morning visit the School of Arts and Crafts where students learn 13 different arts used predominantly in Bhutan, walk to Folk Heritage Museum which is located next to the school and end with the visit to nearby National Library. After lunch drive to Punakha over Dochula pass, at 3150m, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the highest mountains of Bhutan at a sight that stretches almost 180 degrees. Walk around the 108 Stupas and enjoy the view and the fresh air. Continue your drive to the warm valley of Punakha.
After breakfast visit Punakha Dzong, Built strategically at the junction of Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to serve as the religious and administrative centre of the region, Punakha Dzong has played an important role in Bhutan’s history. Damaged by four catastrophic fires and an earthquake, the Dzong has now been fully restored. Then drive to Wangdiphodrang visiting Dzong and local market. The district of Wangdiphodrang is also famous for its bamboo products, slate and stone carvings. After lunch drive to Paro with a short stop at Dochula pass. En route visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress of the Kingdom built in 1627, it now houses the School for Buddhist studies.
After breakfast take an excursion to Taktsang Monastery, the most famous of Bhutanese monastery hanged over the searing cliff. It is said that Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery hence it is called “Tiger’s Nest”. The excursion to monastery takes about 5 hours for round trip. Afternoon visit Ta Dzong, the National Museum of the Kingdom. Originally built as Watch Tower since 1967 it is acting as the National Museum of the country and holding fascinating collection of art, artifacts, Thanka paintings and Bhutan’s exquisite postage stamps. Then walk down the trail to visit Rinpung Dzong which carries a long and fascinating history.
Morning transfer to the airport (10 mins) for your departure flight to Kathmandu. Our staff will bid farewell at airport. Fly to Kathmandu, upon arrival, we receive you & drive to hotel. Later visit Kathmandu Durbar Area if time permit- the former Royal palace complex that holds several Temples, Monuments & old Palace with full of traditional arts & cultural marks. Kumari Temple (The living Goddess residence) is major highlight of the area.
Breakfast at hotel, free till airport time. Transfer to Airport on time for your final departure. Your wonderful Nepal/ Bhutan holiday has come to the pleasant end, fly home with great memories to cherish through the lifetime…
