Actun Tunichil Muknal is a demanding cave journey through wet, uneven terrain to an important Maya ceremonial site, led by a trained guide who explains both the archaeology and the need to protect it.
Allow about 6 hours for the full experience. This is a shared experience with a listed maximum of 15 travelers. entrance fees, lunch, juice, guide service, soft drinks, transportation, and bottled water are included. The experience is not wheelchair accessible. It is not recommended for pregnant travelers, travelers with back problems, and travelers with heart problems or other serious medical conditions. Expect wet, slippery, and uneven cave conditions, and follow the guide’s instructions closely.
Actun Tunichil Muknal is a demanding guided cave expedition. After the road transfer, hike through the forest, cross streams, enter the cave, and spend up to five hours completing the approach, underground route, archaeological interpretation, safety procedures, and return to the activity base. Travelers must be comfortable with wet, slippery, and uneven conditions and must follow the licensed guide’s instructions.
