Embark on an unforgettable 6-day trek through the stunning Western Tian Shan mountains in Uzbekistan. Enjoy breathtaking scenery, panoramic mountain vistas, and encounters with local shepherds. Starting from the village of Gidjal, just 90 minutes from Tashkent, this 74-kilometer journey concludes at the Beldersay Ski Resort.
The trek’s highlight is the ascent to the majestic Great Chimgan summit (3,309 meters), offering incredible views of the surrounding peaks. Perfect for experienced trekkers, this adventure combines challenging trails with the beauty and culture of the Western Tian Shan.
Our driver will pick you up from car park of Uzbekistan hotel at 9 A.M. We recommend you to be at the meeting point 20 minutes before the departure. Our guide will have the sign with the tour name.
Meet our driver and guide at 9:00 AM in the Uzbekistan Hotel parking lot in Tashkent for a transfer to Gidjal Village (65 km, 1.5 hours). Begin your trek along the ridgeline with the Aksakata River to your left, reaching 1,400 meters. Descend into the Aksakata Valley for lunch near the junction of the Aksakata and Nurekata rivers. After lunch, continue along the Aksakata River to the camping area near its junction with the Kashkasuv River, where you’ll set up camp for the night.
Continue walking along the Aksakata River valley, where you'll be surrounded by mountain springs, diverse tree species, and the vibrant hues of barberry and dog-rose bushes along the riverbanks. This area showcases the region's natural beauty. As you head upstream along the riverbed, you'll encounter a picturesque waterfall, adding to the charm of your trek. You might also come across a shepherd's summer hut, offering a glimpse into the local lifestyle. The day concludes with camping in the tranquil Aksakata Valley, where you can relax and absorb the serene environment.
Back on the main trail, you ascend Aksakata Valley to reach Aksakata Pass at 2200m. Continuing uphill along the ridge, climb to 2300m before descending into the next valley. You'll then ascend through this valley, eventually reaching High Karangur at 2700m. Crossing to the other side, we enter the next valley and proceed to the camping area at Karangursay River. You'll camp in the Karangursay Valley.
From the camp, head back to the Mingjilki Ridge and continue north, approaching Great Chimgan. Walk to the sources of the Karaarcha River, then follow the ridge towards Takhta Pass (2620m). The trek offers panoramic views of the Chirchik Valley and surrounding mountains, with occasional glimpses of the Pulatkhan Plateau to the east. Reach the camping area near Takhta Pass and set up camp on Mingjilki Ridge.
Start from the camp and head up the ridge towards Great Chimgan Peak (3309m). The summit, which can be reached in about 3 hours, offers stunning views of the Charvak Reservoir and the distant mountain ranges of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. After spending some time at the summit for observation, descend back to Takata Pass for lunch. Following lunch, continue westward towards today's camping area at Kumbil Pass (2350m). Set up camp at Kumbil Pass.
From the camp at Kumbil Pass, follow the trail that gradually descends to Chet Kumbel Pass (1880m), which separates the Beldersay and Nurekata valleys. Continue descending into Beldersay Valley towards the ski resort.
In the afternoon, your trekking tour through Uzbekistan's most picturesque locations concludes Charvak Reservoir. Our driver will drop you off at the meeting point or at your hotel.
