A short and pleasant country drive from Chiang Mai Province takes you to neighbouring Lamphun Province, which was once the Haripunchai Kingdom. Lamphun is its capitol and also one of Thailand's oldest cities, dating as far back as the 8th Century,. In fact, it pre-dates Chiang Mai by several centuries.
On this tour you will visit two of the finest and most significant temples in northern Thailand.
WAT PHRA THAT HARIPUNCHAI, from the 12th century, has two beautiful old chedis in the original Haripunchai style
and
WAT CHAMADEVI, dating back at least to the 10th century.
Another stop is made at the local market before heading back to Chiang Mai.
