This charming street, with a history spanning over 100 years since the reign of King Rama V, is rich with stories and culture. Songwad Street was once famous for its trade in herbs, fruit and vegetable seeds, and remains deeply connected to Bangkok’s food culture and heritage. As you walk along, you’ll admire a beautiful blend of Chinese and Colonial architecture. Many of the old houses and shopfronts have been lovingly preserved—some transformed into cozy restaurants, cafes, and art galleries, while others continue their original trades selling herbs and seeds. You might even get the chance to sip a refreshing cup of traditional herbal tea along the way.
