Chateau Musar needs no introduction to serious wine lovers. Its flagship red has been poured in Michelin-starred restaurants across Europe and America and described by critics as one of the most complex and age-worthy wines produced anywhere on earth. The story of how founder Serge Hochar continued making wine throughout the Lebanese Civil War — at one point held at gunpoint while transporting his harvest — is the stuff of wine legend.
From Musar the tour continues north to Ixsir — one of the most architecturally stunning wineries in the Middle East, built into 400-year-old terraced hillsides above the Mediterranean. Two completely different estates, two completely different stories, one unforgettable day.

Walk into the 17th-century castle that houses one of the world's most legendary wine estates. Founded in 1930 by Gaston Hochar and brought to international fame by his son Serge — who introduced Musar to the world at the Bristol Wine Fair in 1979 to instant critical acclaim — the estate produces wines of extraordinary complexity from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, and Carignan grapes grown in the Bekaa Valley. The guided cellar tour takes you through the historic stone cellars where wine ages for years before release, and the tasting that follows is unlike any other wine experience in Lebanon — a structured exploration of what makes Musar so utterly distinctive, so deeply Lebanese, and so unlike anything else in the wine world. For anyone who has ever opened a bottle of Musar and wondered where it came from — this is the answer.

Drive north to Bezbina and arrive at Ixsir — a winery that stops visitors in their tracks before a single glass is poured. Built into 400-year-old stone terraces above the Mediterranean, the estate's award-winning architecture is a seamless marriage of ancient hillside farming and contemporary design — and the views over the Lebanese coastline from the tasting terrace are genuinely spectacular. The name comes from the Arabic word for elixir, and the wines live up to it — internationally awarded, produced from grapes grown at multiple altitudes across Lebanon, and ranging from their elegant Grande Réserve red to aromatic whites and a celebrated rosé. The guided cellar tour reveals the meticulous craft behind wines that have earned medals at Decanter and the International Wine Challenge. A completely different experience from Musar — and equally memorable.

3Byblos
Lunch in Byblos — optional End the day in Byblos — one of the oldest cities on earth — with a long, leisurely lunch at a waterfront restaurant overlooking the ancient fishing port. Fresh Lebanese mezze, grilled fish, and cold white wine with medieval city walls reflected in the harbour beside you. After a morning of world-class wine, this is the only way the day should end.
