The famous Kinneff Old Church is where the “Scotland’s Honours” (a crown, sword and sceptre dating from the 15th century) were hidden in 1651. Oliver Cromwell had besieged the castle in an attempt to acquire them, but they had been smuggled out by a minister’s wife pretending to gather seaweed.
