Omoide Yokocho (思い出横丁) is located by the West Exit (Shinjuku Nishiguchi) of Shinjuku Station in Tokyo. Omoide Yokocho is a bar district with a nostalgic atmosphere. It has its roots in the open-air markets that formed in the burnt-out ruins of Tokyo in the immediate aftermath of the Second World War. Today, approximately 80 shops crowd together in about 2,000 m2 of land, giving the district its bustling atmosphere and creating a spot that is popular with overseas tourists as well as locals.
Shijuku Golden gai (新宿ゴールデン街) is a small area in Kabukicho, Shinjuku. Around 300 bars fit into a tight six-row block of alleys. It is not a tourist destination, but a collection of approximately 280 bars and pubs in which a unique “pub culture” has come about. Recently, the local Donkihote shop and godzilla statue towering over the city here have brought many visitors!
Heiwa Doburoku Kabutocho Brewery (平和どぶろく兜町醸造所) is a brewery pub-style shop where you can enjoy freshly made doburoku as well as kido, tsuruume, and peace crafts which are popular in Japan.
Saka no shita no oryzae(坂ノ下ノオリゼ) is a photogenic sake bar which has more than 100 kinds of sake including seasonable and unique sake. They also serve delicious Sashimi and many dishes matches with Sake. Closed: Tuesdays
Echigoya (越後屋酒店) is a local liquor shop established in 1904. They have many kinds of drink as well as sake, shochu and beer. You can casually enjoy Japanese drinking culture with old nostalgic atmosphere. Closed:Tuesday
Taninaka beer hall (谷中ビアホール) is a old folk house beer bar. They serve their original craft beer "Taninaka beer". You can drink it only at Taninaka beer hall and they also have tasting set of it to compare the taste of different kind of beer! Closed:Monday
Jidoriya Tsukada (地どり屋つかだ) is a modern and clean restaurant that serves Charcoal-roasted chicken dishes with sake. They use locally raised chicken for their dishes and season it in many unique ways. Opening hours: Weekdays 17:00〜23:00(LO.22:00), Weekends 13:00〜23:00(LO.22:00)
