Take a day trip to experience authentic village life outside the city and become a member of the community, where local names will be given to you through a traditional drumming and dancing ceremony and you will be invited to take part in some of their daily activities such as pottery making, glass bead making, kente weaving, among others.
It is a chance for you to learn about rich African cultures in a remote area of Ghana.
Our guide/driver will contact you a day before to arrange your pick-up, we are flexible and can adjust to a time which is best for you. Communicate this with the guide.
• Your driver and guide will pick you up in an air-conditioned bus/car from your location in Accra at 8:00am. It is about 2 hours’ drive to the village. • While in the village we will call on the Chief and elders of the community who will welcome you by pouring libation (a traditional way of welcoming you to the village). • The naming ceremony with drumming and dancing will follow. You will be given a local Ghanaian name and become part of the community while taking part in dancing and the ceremonial activities. • You can take part in a workshop in pottery making, beads making or kente waving. You will experience first-hand village life and escape the busy city life. • Spend some time in the community, walk around and engage the locals. Learn different aspects of their daily lives. • Enjoy lunch and a beautiful landscape by the largest man-made lake in the world (Volta Lake). • Head back to Accra at about 4pm. • Drop-off at your location in Accra.
