Six days, straight to Base Camp, no Poon Hill side trip padding out the itinerary. This route suits people who know exactly what they came for and would rather not spend extra days getting there.
Day one is mostly a drive now, the road has crept further into the Ghandruk hills than it used to, so real walking kicks off day two. From there you climb into Chhomrong, gateway to the Sanctuary, then follow the Modi Khola through Bamboo and Dovan to Himalaya. Day four is what you came for, above the treeline, past Machhapuchhre Base Camp, into Annapurna Base Camp itself, with Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre close enough to feel real.
Jhinu Danda hot springs catch you on the way down, a good excuse to sit still before the drive back to Pokhara.
Worth knowing going in: no acclimatization day built into this pace, and day four climbs higher, faster, than usually recommended above 3,000m.
