Most hikes around Kathmandu are day trips. This one is different — a proper 3-day trail along the Kathmandu Valley rim that most visitors never find.
You start at Sundarijal, where the city ends and Shivapuri National Park begins. The trail climbs through rhododendron and pine forest to Chisapani at 2,175m, where the Himalayan range spreads across the horizon — Langtang, Ganesh Himal, and Manaslu.
From Chisapani the trail follows the valley rim east to Nagarkot — one of the best sunrise viewpoints in Nepal, with Everest visible on clear days.
Three days, two nights in teahouses, all meals included, licensed guide throughout. Moderate walking — no technical sections, no altitude concerns. Around 5 to 6 hours per day on quiet forest trails.
The kind of trek that feels much further from Kathmandu than it actually is. A good way to start or end a Nepal trip without committing to a longer route.
