Gosaikunda sits at 4,380m in Langtang National Park, sacred to Hindus and Buddhists for centuries. Legend says Shiva struck the mountainside with his trident to create the lake — pilgrims still gather every August for Janai Purnima, bathing in water that is technically freezing but considered spiritually cleansing regardless.
Six days covers real ground: Tamang and Sherpa villages, rhododendron forest thinning into alpine ridgelines, and Langtang National Park, home to red pandas and snow leopards (rare to spot, never promised).
This is also the most accessible high-altitude trek out of Kathmandu. No flight required, no long jeep transfer — you are in the trailhead region within a day's drive, which matters if Everest Base Camp's two-week commitment is not realistic for your trip.
Six days is short for a Himalayan trek, but not a rushed one. The pacing gets you to the lake and back without skipping the acclimatization your body needs above 4,000m.
