Poon Hill sits at 3,210m, and the sunrise is worth the early wake-up, but the trek asks more of your legs than "sunrise" suggests. Day two is demanding: a pre-dawn summit push followed by a long downhill stretch to Tikhedunga, 5-6 hours of walking total. Downhill helps, but it is still a full day on tired legs after an early start.
Not a technical trek, no ropes or scrambling, and the altitude does not carry the same risk EBC or the Annapurna Circuit high passes do. But it is not a stroll either. Reasonable fitness matters, and a few weeks of stair climbing beforehand makes a real difference on day two.
Weather can shift fast in the hills, and a cloudy sunrise is always possible on any Himalayan trek. Teahouse rooms are simple, shared bathrooms are normal, and nights at Ghorepani get cold enough that a proper sleeping layer matters.
