This daytime winter photo tour explores the natural beauty of the Anchorage area, providing access to stunning landscapes and wildlife opportunities.
Explore the beauty of winter, from frosty woods to ice falls, snow-covered mountains to coastal sunsets, as you visit 4-5 different locations. Destinations can include Chugach State Park, Turnagain Arm, and the coast of Cook Inlet. Departure times will vary according to the timing of sunset, and throughout the tour, you’ll be offered creative and technical support by your Alaska Photo Treks guide.
This winter photo tour is fun for everyone, from casual picture-takers using cell phone cameras to avid photographers with high-end gear, and it’s a great way to see the beauty of winter while developing your photography skills.

Tour pick up schedule will be sent via email no later than 24 hours in advance of your tour start time. Hotel pick up is available for all guests staying at Anchorage-area hotels. Note that hotels in Girdwood, Chugiak, and Eagle River are not included. Pick up from Airbnbs is available on a case by case basis as long as the location is near an Anchorage-area hotel in the Downtown, Midtown, or Spenard neighborhoods.

Photograph the iconic Alaskan float plane at the busiest seaplane base in the world! On colder, frosty days, this location is a great opportunity to capture the contrast between the natural and the mechanical.
Keep an eye out for moose as you drive through Kincaid Park. There will be the opportunity to make stops and take short walks to better capture the natural beauty and local wildlife.
Your photographer guide always has their finger on the pulse when it comes to where wildlife has been spotted, and they'll make stops to ensure you have the best chance of viewing different species throughout your tour.
While driving along Turnagain Arm in the winter, you may see waterfalls that have frozen in motion. You'll also have the opportunity to capture iconic landscapes along the upper Cook Inlet.
Visiting the Glen Alps section of Chugach State Park puts you at a higher elevation, perfect for photographing the surrounding epic and snowy mountain landscapes.
End your tour by shooting the sunset, and head back to your hotel having deepened your connection with Alaska through the art of photography.
