The Budapest Essential Tour is a guided walking tour in Spanish designed for those who want to discover the main monuments, squares and historical episodes of the Hungarian capital in a first contact with the city.
During the tour, travelers will get to know some of Budapest’s most representative sights, such as St. Stephen’s Basilica, the surroundings of the Hungarian Parliament, Erzsebet Square, Freedom Square and other key points of the historic center of Pest. Along the itinerary, the guide will contextualize the evolution of the city, marked by the Roman presence, Ottoman rule, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, World War II and the Soviet era.

In Elisabeth Square you will learn about the history of Budapest: Buddha, Pest and Obuda, Romans, Magyars, Turks, Habsburg and its Soviet period. You will also discover the old project of the National Theatre, “El Hueco”, Akvárium and Andrássy Avenue.

2St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika)
You will be surprised by this basilica, dedicated to Saint Stephen I, first Christian king of Hungary. You will discover the Holy Right-handedness, the curiosities of the dome, the relationship of the temple with Puskás and its religious importance. Nearby, next to the Statue of the Policeman, you will immerse yourself in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Compromise of 1867 and the popular legends of touching his moustache or belly.

3Szabadsag ter
In Freedom Square, the weight of the word “freedom” in Hungarian history will be deepened. You will visit the German Occupation Monument and citizen counter-monument, Holocaust remembrance, bunker, Soviet Monument, presence of banks and US Embassy. Also here you will find the statue of Ronald Reagan and, on the way to Parliament, the figure of Imre Nagy and the 1956 Revolution.
