Good and bad points, first the good. The hotel is lovely and clean, reception staff excellent, animation team excellent. Food, well it’s what you expect on all inclusive, very samey, chips, pizza, same puddings daily. Location we thought was great, plenty of around but not too much if you know what I mean, perfect for a laid back holiday but enough around to not be boring, shops, bars etc., all a few minutes on foot away and beach on doorstep. Rooms a decent size, but one side of hotel completely in shade, we requested sunny side as hotel not fully booked but request completely ignored which isn’t very good. A few points that aren’t so good, a couple of bar staff never smiled, and one in particular over charges…..maybe needs more training. Entertainment hit a miss, violinist one night was excellent, as were flamenco, but then one night a lady with her two sons spent most of the time sitting on edge of stage killing time rather than entertaining - so out of our nine nights four excellent and five would give a miss if we go again. Sunbeds……well if you like a sunny sunbed then you will struggle as they are mostly in the shade, unless you go to rooftop but there aren’t many so you have to be quick, hence why we were so disappointed when they gave us a shaded balcony when really they could have easily fulfilled our request. Will we go again? Still on the fence with that one, we met some lovely guests so who knows………
Booked the Golden Port direct, arrived just after 11am unexpectedly our room was ready, 5th floor , street view, which was fine by us.
The rooms are modern, hallways are carpeted, which minimises noise, the doors are heavy and there seems to be soundproofing, the bed and pillows, were some of the most comfortable I've ever used, the room was exceptionally clean.
We did have an issue with the air conditioning as it was off being so late in the season, but as the weather was unseasonably warm, and several of us hadn't slept, it seems that it was put back on.
Staff were friendly and welcoming, always a smile, helped me with my pigeon Spanish and were a real pleasure to be around, Special thanks to Javier, Toni and Felipe.
There were several young people with special needs, the staff were exceptional with them.
Food was usual hotel buffet, but good quality and plenty of variety.
Pools were cold but only the be expected, the areas were clean, the adult only Spa was definitely worth a visit.
It's a few minutes from the strip, easy walk.
Entertainment was good and varied.
All in all we had an excellent visit and are very likely to revisit, thank you to all of the staff.
An excellent, small friendly hotel which is excellent value for money. It is well located next to a bus stop. The rooms were spacious with a walk in shower suitable for someone with mobility issues. Entertainment staff and all bar and restaurant staff worked hard and were extremely helpful. Food was excellent, plentiful and freshly cooked. I travelled with an 80 year old and we hired a car and mobility scooter. The area is well adapted and scooter friendly. Lots to see around the area if you have a car and would highly recommend a visit.
We got a really warm welcome and we’re really impressed from the start, ready to give this one a 5 out of 5. The hotel is clean, well appointed and the food was well above average for a 4 star hotel. The staff on reception were extremely professional and helpful.
The rooms were lovely with plenty of storage for a week away.
However, service wasn’t that friendly at the bar or in the restaurant (apart from Eduardo who was really nice). Room cleaning was a bit hit and miss too. We always seemed to be last on the list every day and sometimes it wasn’t done before we wanted to go back to the room. Bit of a shame.
Overall decent hotel in a good location but room for improvement in a few things that would make this so much better.
Oh yes, and the whole sunbed reservation thing is crazy for such a small hotel. They could police it and remove towels.
Stayed here beginning of October. Hotel is very nice..all staff very friendly and entertainment is first class ...however we had a massive problem with the food .....it was always cold....I don't understand why the plates are not warmed....by the time you get back to your table the food is stone cold !
We ended up either eating salad or eating out. Breakfast was disappointing only 2 types of cereal ....cornflakes or branflakes ....is such a shame and we think the hotel management need to address the problem of food and temperature as a lot of people we spoke to said the same
Yet another great stay at the Golden Costa , my wife and I have had 8 great holidays at the hotel , from arrival to leaving everything is excellent , the hotel is spotlessly clean, rooms have all you need for your stay , the food is excellent with many choices at all sittings , the hotels location is brilliant for visits to Tarragon and Cambrils and is only 100yds from a sandy beach , but any hotel is only as good as its staff that look after you and the Golden Costa has the best staff you could wish for Andrea, Christian, Marco, Lisa, Aina, Leo , Mica , Leanne , Christina to name a few , and all those not mentioned a big thank you .
I would recommend the hotel and we are returning next year
2nd time at Golden Costa, great to see great staff retained to provide consistent service. Restaurant staff very attentive. Entertainment coordination Brilliant by Andrea and Christian, friendly, engaging and energetic
Just got back 15th October.
Hotel is not a four star hotel food was basic and usually cold not much choice iam not a fussy person but wouldn't recommend it to anyone and it's a 25 minute bus ride to salou central. La penada Beach is nearby but there is building work going on.only good thing was a good service nearby.
Perfect location close to the beach and the local amenities.
Rooms are very clean and offered everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
The Atmosphere in the Hotel was always very friendly and we cannot say enough good things about all the staff especially Mariella on reception and Andria who is part of the entertainment team.
Noise levels were never an issue.
The hotel is very modern with great facilities.
We had an amazing time at the Golden Costa Salou and we will definitely going back the first chance we get 😀
Just returned from our second visit this year to the Golden Costa Salou. First trip was at the end of June and second the start of October. Both trips were great, the main difference being the pool temperature. In June we could just walk into the pool like it was a warm bath, this time we had to jump in, but it was still refreshing and bearable once you were in.
Let’s start with a couple of things that maybe could be improved. Both times we had to wait for our rooms to be ready at check in, we arrived around 12ish and had to wait till 2pm to be able to change and relax. Throughout the week we noticed other couples waiting for their rooms to be ready. Surely this could be improved with extra cleaning staff?
The snack bar. Even though we were all inclusive, sometimes we didn’t feel like using the restaurant at lunch, and chose to use the snack bar facilities. On our 1st trip in June, we had a few fabulous snacks from the bar especially the toasties and crispy fries, delicious and fresh. But then they opened the just built snack area next to the restaurant. From then, we were told as all inclusive customers, we had to use the snack area which consisted of the same snacks we had ordered from the bar, but were just left slightly heated, and the fries were cold and soggy. Paying customers were still served the fresh food from the bar. On our return trip, this was still an issue, depending on which member of the bar staff served you, some let you have snacks from the bar, some insisted you went to the snack area. The snack area needs to go, it reminded me of a kids club hotel, burgers, hot dogs, stale bread , nuggets and soggy fries.
Evening entertainment was pretty poor in my opinion, the acts were very average and didn’t get us up dancing bar the odd song. Happy to sit outside and play cards and dominoes at this point of the evening instead.
So, lets move onto the positives. Hotel cleanliness was spot on, rooms were cleaned every afternoon and never noticed any rubbish left on tables for more than a few minutes, bar and restaurant staff were very attentive to cleaning tables.
Entertainment staff – 10 stars. Andrea and Christian are amazing at what they do, so friendly and chatty and full of enthusiasm. The daily games were great fun and well organised, and the evening quizzes were too. FAO the hotel management, please make sure these guys are well rewarded, your hotel wouldn’t be the same without them.
Bar staff – the majority were so friendly, great service especially the table service in the evenings both inside and out. Special mentions to Lesa, Yuliana, Iena and Leo (apologies for any spelling errors)
Hotel Spa – top notch. I had a 25 minute back massage, very enjoyable and professional, only 40 euros and it also included 30 minutes in the indoor pool, sauna, steam room etc. which was very relaxing, highly recommended.
Restaurant food – couldn’t fault it, decent variety, and as long as you waited for the fresh cuts, it was always warm enough.
Final positives, not really hotel related, but the short flight and short transfer times were great and added to our overall enjoyment of two great weeks in the sun, end of June was probably a bit to hot for me being fair skinned but October’s temperatures were perfect, apart from the pool but you can’t have the best of both worlds.
Definitely recommend and will return

Food wasn’t much choice and always cold entertainment was good and staff excellent service the sunbeds was always a long queue
A lovely hotel with a pool. Nice adults only hotel. Good daytime entertainment and night time entertainment. The only downside of the hotel is only half the sunbeds are in the sun so you do get a bit of a queue in the morning but as they open at 9oclock its not too bad. Also to food at night is often luke warm so cold by the time you eat. There is Microwave that some people used to heat the meal up which you shouldn't have to do. On the whole it was good for the price we paid for a last minute getaway
It’s hard to really balance out the review for this trip. Overall it was good but there’s some major issues that need to be looked at for it to truly be worth a return.
Positives:
- Reception on entry very friendly.
- Christian and Andrea fab entertainment staff.
- Hotel is very clean, cannot explain how great the cleaning staff were. Whilst poolside you can see them working hard on the balcony. I hope they are paid well.
- Free ice machines and fresh water machines all over the hotel. This was amazing.
Negatives:
- On arrival our room was changed with no explanation.
- Room is modern but weird layout, nowhere to sit and do your makeup etc.
- Horrible smell outside our room the entire stay (Room 201) avoid if you can.
- Rooms are not sound proof and 201 is right by the lifts. You can hear every footstep and lift ding. The balcony doors are not sound proof either. So can hear what was a daily bike and car drag meet up.
- Had issues with tv, English channels didn’t work for two days and night. I could hear other visitors complaining about this so this was an overall issue not just our tv so not user error. TV cast didn’t work half the stay and we had the technician up twice but he was lovely and efficient but again the problem would arrive the next day so we gave up inevitably.
- The taxi arranged for us ended up over charging us so I would look into sorting your own or looking on the tips here on trip advisor for a bus pass etc.
- Bar downstairs not friendly to us personally, made to feel you were bothering them for hot food (we were not all inclusive).
- Food started off good first quarter to half of the week I’d say, variety of food. By the end of the week nothing changed in terms of food, they just changed the sauces on them. For example for seven nights they served pizza and rice in one section and they’d change the sauce on them or toppings. But they would have changes on the bite size appetisers for example “scorpion paste” … personally I stayed at golden Costa Salou and the food was incredible so I thought here would be the exact same. I was disappointed. I wish we returned to golden Costa Salou (not adults only).
- you have to queue anywhere from 8.30am - 8.45 am for a deckchair as the other chairs not pool side do not receive any sunlight on them all day. If the hotel cared about improvements they would remove their money grabbing Balinese beds upstairs you have to rent that stayed empty the entire stay and put more deckchairs upstairs. I doubt they will as there’s many reviews now that suggest this and it hasn’t been done.
- Staff were either amazing or terrible in the buffet room. You’d either have your plate removed the moment you finished and your glass continued to be refilled or you would be waiting for the plates to be moved or gasping for water for 20 minutes. Not an exaggeration. It was night and day with staff. The older staff were so efficient.
- We were waiting for our room for a long time on day of arrival. As well as an unexplained room change. I wish I’d have pushed this now as the room (201) was not nice for previously mentioned reasons). We explained on the last day we wouldn’t be having the breakfast including in our holiday stay so could we change it to a lunch. We were bluntly told no. I thought with the continued issues with our room, wait time on room, change of room, we would be allowed to change to a lunch as an acknowledgment but reception didn’t seem the care.
Overall it is a shame as the staff are lovely (minus the two or so in the buffet room) and the hotel is modern but it’s just not as great as we were expecting. If you can book in school terms I’d recommend going to Golden Costa Salou instead as the food and overall hotel layout, deckchairs etc are miles better. Staff do a great job as almost a distraction to the underlying issues.
I came to Golden Costa Salou needing rest and peace, and this hotel gave me exactly that and more. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing break away, this is the perfect place. The atmosphere is calm, the hotel is really clean and modern. Its just a short walk from the beach and ideal for morning walks or peaceful evenings.
What makes this hotel so special, is the staff. All of the staff, from reception to the restaurant, bar, the entertainment team, and the cleaning staff are so friendly and professional. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and seen. I had lovely, memorable interactions with a few of them, and it really touched my heart.
I didn’t want to leave and honestly wish I had stayed longer. I’ll definitely be coming back, it’s one of the best holidays I’ve ever had. I can’t recommend this hotel enough.
I checked into this lovely hotel for a long weekend. Rooms are modern with USB power points for charging with a couple of English TV Channels. The food on offer is lovely and cater well for Vegetarians. As a single woman traveller I never felt unsafe and would definitely be coming back again La Pineda is very quiet resort, the number 4 bus takes twenty minutes to take you into Salou.
Recently returned home from this hotel. Overall a very good hotel with very good staff, all very friendly & helpful. A particular mention for Marco & Fernanda on reception who were extremely helpful. The animation team of Christian & Andrea are
the best we have come across. They organised many games throughout the day by the pool which we enjoyed. The evening entertainment was enjoyable in which they encouraged everyone to take part in games & dancing. The rooms were of a good standard, in the restaurant the food was varied with a good selection which on occasions could have been hotter. There were not enough sunbeds for the number of guests which resulted in a queue at 9.00am. The downside of the holiday for us was the major reconstruction work of the promenade which started near the hotel, We understand it will be completed by next March. John & Joyce.
Lovely friendly hotel in good location close to beach and main street.
Warm welcome on arrival - reception staff were very friendly.
Lovely room over looking pool.
Even though it was an adult only hotel it was not rowdy - very suitable for couples of all ages.
Excellent hotel - I agree with all of the previous positive reviews. Clean, modern, good food, lovely staff, good entertainment, nice rooms, comfortable beds, close to the airport etc.
The area in general is currently undergoing some major works along the beach so you need to walk a bit further along to get the best of the sea front or take a trip to Salou or Cambrils on the local bus. We bought the 11 Euro rechargeable card - well worth it.
Our only negative remarks concern the lack of sunbeds - this could easily be resolved 1. by removing some under utilised Balinese beds on the roof and replacing with normal sun beds, 2. move existing beds in pool area to allow for another row of beds 3. provide reclining chairs on the balconies so people could enjoy the sun from their own space and not have to fight for a sunbed - could even include them as a 'paid for' option. More sunbeds would eliminate the 9am scramble.
We would return again and I would recommend this hotel but I would not bother with All inclusive option.
We had a lovely holiday here and I really recommend the hotel! Had a lovely welcome from the reception team when we arrived. Glass of cava and a quick check in. All the staff were fantastic - very attentive and friendly. The food was good, always something to have each day. We did the snack bar for all inclusive too. This was fine as something to keep you going. All of the hotel is lovely and clean and fresh and we felt really comfortable there.
By far the best thing about this hotel is Andrea and Christian. They are fantastic 10/10! They put so much energy and enthusiasm into all the entertainment events and are really friendly and fun! We had a great time doing the events but equally if you want to sit out that’s not a problem either. Really would recommend you getting involved though as you have a real good laugh! I don’t know how they remember everyone’s names or who has been before but they make it look easy! They are a real credit to the hotel!
Separately as a bit of a warning we got absolutely bitten by mosquitoes while we were there. They were by the pool but also in the main rooms too so we were bit inside and outside quite badly. I’m not sure if this was the location, the weather, the time of year or what but really suggest you take repellent and treatment as quite a few of us we spoke to had been bitten.
So overall a brilliant holiday but we had some niggles that mean I’ve given 4 and not 5. Firstly would not recommend room 110. This was a premium pool view room but I don’t think it should be classed as this. The balcony view was obstructed by a large tree and it was the same level and right next to the road so didn’t feel nice to sit out there (see photo). Also that road had a recycling point which was collected by a large lorry several times a day including regularly at 12.30/1am. Not what you want when trying to sleep. It was really noisy. Also was a struggle to get a sunbed in the sun. People queued at 9 to get these and we always ended up with the ones in the shade. Some days sunbed reservations checking was enforced and other days not. Be nice to have this consistent as several times beds left for hours with a towel on.
Would definitely recommend the hotel though and we would consider returning again.
Good hotel, lovely food, friendly staff, ok location, road side rooms noisy & little sun, rooms comfortable with great shower bathrooms, entertainment good and varied, Andrea & Christian great entertainment reps & are a credit to the hotel, pool area is too small for the size of the hotel and in September does not get sunshine on all the sun beds hence the queue in the morning, if having a sun bed does not matter to you then I would recommend this hotel, I’m afraid, for this reason, we will not be back.
