Absolutely awful. Do not, under any circumstances, let them put you in room 233. You'll get a better night's sleep in a tent. The mattress was hard as a rock, pillows collapse instantly and offer no support, and the staff is rude. The only redeeming quality of this hotel is the breakfast. Never again.
A lovely welcome from the team started our stay well. The room was really clean, cared for and well designed. The breakfast room had plenty of space and choice and the bar was so lovely, with a great choice of drinks and really beautifully decorated. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
The room felt unfinished with certain lights missing. The tv didn't work. However everything was very clean and the breakfast was amazing
Pros:
The propriety is beautiful.
Common areas are very well decorated.
Bath towels new and soft.
Breakfast is excellent.
Cons:
Room very stuffy and warm (no AC).
Noisy construction in front of the building and so is the road.
Staff between arrogant and almost rude.
Room/bathroom design weird.
Loose electrical wires hanging out of the walls.
Holder for shampoo and conditioner but nothing there.
Location great service good room was very crowded no closet or hooks for clothes or space for suitcase
It was a very nice hotel and hotel room. The breakfast was extremely good! The only downfall was there was a lot of construction going on within the hotel and on the street of the hotel.
Brand new and beautiful
A bit dusty, had an allergy
Loved this hotel!!!
The Hotel Akureyri Dynheimar is a firm favourite; its charm and character have been preserved and enhanced by clever interior design choices.
The rooms are generous and very well-fitted. Our room had a large desk, a comfy armchair, a beautiful bathroom, and a king-size bed.
The heated timber floors were a nice touch. This hotel is designed for comfort, and I felt right at home as soon as I arrived.
The hotel's location is neatly sandwiched between the old and new parts of the town. The hotel itself overlooks the water and is within easy walking distance of everything you could need.
A lovely stop over, we only did one night here but I could have stayed forever!!
Check in took a while as loads of people were checking in at the same time. We were given a code for our room and directions to the other part of the hotel.
Compact but good rooms enough space for our 2 nights, rainfall walk in shower. Good sized TV, guitar on the wall, enough space for 2 nights. Needs 2 hooks in bathroom for towels and some hooks on the wall as you walk in for coats bags etc as there is no hanging space other than 1 hook on the back of the door. Parking is limited outside the door of this building but plenty of parking outside main hotel free a short walk up the road.
Free breakfast in the main hotel building.breakfast area is small but can sit downstairs in the main reception area if no space. Staff weren’t ready when breakfast opened at 7am with the tongs forks etc so people were touching all the bread and picking at things. They should close the area off until they are completely ready. Area is not big enough for amount of guests, for example one toaster with 4 slice option. Food available was bread cereal crackers ham coffee tea flat white 1 type cookie or small croissant no hot food options.
When checking out there was no one on reception until 8am and had no other way of checking out earlier. We had to call and leave card at reception behind the desk.
Fantastic hotel with a great atmosphere.
The lounge area was very relaxing and the bar staff were great.
We had a great room, and the decor looked like a movie theater. Plus we had a guitar in our room which was fun. Very convenient location and comfy beds.
Property had a very cool/unique design aesthetic. Loved that each room had a movie quote on the board outside, was just fun. The room we booked was tiny, which we knew at booking. Definitely wouldn't recommend one of those small rooms if you are travelling with very large or multiple pieces of luggage. We has one medium sized suitcase which was a squeeze but fine. Breakfast was great but space is very limited even with people spilling out into the lobby to eat
a perfect place to stay in Akureyri
No complaints. Everything as expected.
Really cute hotel, nice location - very convenient for walking downtown. My only issue was the construction directly above our room and across the street that was very loud for the first couple hours we were there. It stopped around 5pm but started again around 7am. Good thing we were up early anyway, but not ideal if you want to sleep in.
Nice place to stay as you are traveling the Ring Road
Loved the decor. Very quirky
bad
Unique hotel with walkable dining options and activities. Beautiful room with a guitar available!
Only downfall is that the room door kept being slammed by the main door.
