A hotel to watch!
Pros:

We made our reservation with Anika Hotel though booking.com and stayed there from January 25-28, 2020. Its location is excellent as it is near the Chang Puak (Elephant) Gate on the northern wall of the old city. Across the moat from the hotel is the Chang Puak night market with its delicious food stalls of khan soi, pickled pork leg, and duck.

The hotel is relatively new and it is still in the process of getting its service fully settled. Our room was booked for 3 persons, 2 adults and a teen-age child, yet the room we received (although spacious) did not have an extra bed. They had an Asian wooden sofa with a thin mattress that had the length of a love seat, and described as a "sofa bed". Our teenager was expected to sleep in this "sofa bed" and when we requested for an extra bed for her, we were told none were available. They did bring another thin mattress and beddings for her which we then arranged on the floor for her to sleep during our 3-night stay.

The other glitches were minor. For example, they still need to learn to anticipate customer needs when the room has more than 2 occupants, i.e., had to repeatedly ask for extra towels, extra amenities, and extra toilet paper during our stay. Their wifi is weak particularly when the hotel is full. The hot water is more warm than hot.

That being said, we still recommend Anika highly to others for the following reasons. The front desk provided excellent service. Rattawan was specially helpful, efficient, graceful and went out of her way to address our needs and questions. Our room was spacious, very clean, and has a separate tub and shower. It was so clean that we actually enjoyed a soak in the tub several times during our stay. The breakfast room on the ground level is open-air and very refreshing in the morning. The Thai breakfast buffet was delicious and they have an espresso/cappuccino machine for guests! It is an easy walk to the center of the old city where we enjoyed the Sunday Night walking market. There is a massage spa three doors away that is both reasonable and good.

As the management of the hotel learns to fine-tune its hospitality service, Anika Hotel will be one to watch!

Just ok, too expensive
Pros:

This hotel "just does the job", no more, no less. For the price charged I would expect much more.

The hotel is clean and staff is friendly, but it is very impractical in many ways:
- Rooms are loud, with other guests easily heard from the hallways
- The rooms feel tight, with doors arranged in impractical ways (e.g. bathroom
doors require you to open them, step in the bathroom, and close them again to access the toilet and shower area)
- Have fun hitting your lower shin on the bedframe every day
- Bed pillows are like bricks
- There is a balcony but no chairs or table to actually enjoy it in any way
- Breakfast buffet is disgusting with flies everywhere
- Coffee machine is frequently broken, being cleaned or out of supplies

That being said, the hotel location is quite central, and the outside architecture of the hotel looks quite nice. If the price were cheaper, I would recommend it, but not like this.

Modern oasis in the heart of town
Pros:

Brand new small boutique hotel (1 year old), spotlessly clean with great minimalist wood veneered rooms and parquet floors. Slight Japanese feel to them. Not expensive, real value for money. Within walking distance of all the main downtown sites. Owner and female assistants charming with excellent English.
Good breakfast. We warmly recommend staying here.

Basic Anika
Pros:

Anika Boutique hotel is a clean, basic boutique. It is close to Chiang Mia Hospital and several eateries. Staff were nice and helpful. Breakfast brought minimal cold options. Housekeeping staff were consistent as the room was well maintained. Good location if you plan to explore all day and just need a spot to rest.

Pros:

The hotel is nice, good location even when it is not the center of the Old Town, its still good. Staff they are nice and helpful. The breakfast is terrible... the administration if the hotel should be aware that quality of the breakfast it is not according to the quality of hotel they are trying to project. "Continental breakfast" means simple, not poor. It should inclued at least 1 fresh fruit (even a single banana) and one kind of cheese or ham. The rest of the hotel is ok. But again, for the kind of hotel the should do better with breakfast.

Pros:

We really loved the hotel, very clean, nice design and excellent location! Something the manager needs to rake care about it’s their personnel who is at the front desk, Doesn’t speak English it was difficult to communicate each other.
Our last comment, it is the continental breakfast it was too simple and if you need something no one it’s there tu assist you. Thanks

great new hotel, great price!
Pros:

visited for one night in march 2019 and we all were extremely happy with our stay. it's a new hotel, so has modern amenities with a traditional feel. the location is great, right near the north gate (and the associated excellent little night food market), with several small cafes, etc. right nearby. rooms face a small interior courtyard so road noise is totally non-existent. at this price point, it really can't be beat in chiang mai. highly recommended and we'll be back!

Super Super Super hotel and great price
Pros:

We had been staying in the hotel up the road for a week before we went to Pai. We saw this hotel was a new hotel and thought we’d give it a try on our return, before flying to Bangkok. We wish we had stayed here the whole time - not only was it almost half the cost of our previous hotel along the road but it was also comfortable and very modern see the photographs. We managed to get it for £18 a night on Booking.com. Everything was new in the room, the bed was comfortable - there are four pillows to choose from - lovely hot shower, separate bath and high quality towels and complimentary toiletries. A simple breakfast was included in the price, various cereals and toast, orange juice and a bean to cup coffee maker that makes delicious coffee. If you can book this hotel while they’re still offering special offers, because they are new and unknown, then you will have bagged yourself a bargain. It’s also very peaceful.

Pros:

Great location, right in the middle of the north wall. Easy starting point to the center of old Town and minutes walk from the Chang phuak gate food night market. Red buses and tuk tuks right outside the main road or the 7/11 red bus gathering spot for tiger kingdom/ doi suthep. Rooms are well furnished and bathrooms are amazing, great tub to soak in. Balcony to dry your clothes. Fridge, ac, wifi, free water. Staff speaks English and is very nice and helpful. Pillows are a bit hard and room lacks lock box.

Glorious hotel- please stay here!
Pros:

We had the best time here- I wish we stayed longer. It was our favourite place to stay in our two week trip around Thailand - it was just what we needed. It was fresh, clean, and beautiful. Everything was new- the aircon worked excellently- we had a bath AND a shower, the bed was king sized- it was perfect. The staff there were incredibly helpful- nothing was too much trouble, from telling us where to get laundry done to ordering us a taxi (the taxi man was also a dream- called lucky). The location was amazing- very close to a street food market which did amazing food (we went there every evening). Inside the old city so very easy to walk around and explore the temples and sites. I would urge everyone to stay here if they can! The price was also really good- the best value we experienced. The breakfast was lovely- try the Thai sticky rice with custard- delicious. We will be coming back at some point and 100% want to stay here again if we can get a room.

Pros:

The only bad thing about this place is the WiFi is awful. Couldn’t really do much on it and had to go to a coffee shop to get stuff done. But the bed is super comfy, water pressure is great, the bathtub was lovely and the place is new so everything was clean.

New hotel in a great location!
Pros:

We stayed here for just one night but it was lovely. The hotel looks and smells brand new! The staff are very friendly and helpful. It’s certainly service with a smile! We didn’t have breakfast but they had a small buffet available with toast, some biscuits and cakes, juice etc. The location is great - close to shops and restaurants along with temples. The only downside was that there was no safe box in the room. Other than that, no complaints!

A gem of a hotel that is clean, well managed and well located, plus excellent value to boot!
Pros:

The hotel is brand new, with construction only completing in August 2018. The rooms are immaculate with excellent air conditioning and all the features that you need.

When I arrived, the staff were hosting a their staff party in reception and invited all guests to join them for free drink and a hog roast, it was a lovely tough! Breakfast was sufficient and the staff were very helpful and informative in guiding me where I needed to go. It is ideally located just inside the walls of the ancient city, so is easy to access by vehicle, but also is only a 5 minute walk into the main town and the night markets.

A great little place, I would definitely return!

Pros:

Superb Hotel at the Fringe of City Centre
Pros:

The hotel is located on the fringe of the central area. It is near but not right inside the central area. With this, I think there are pros and cons as it is quite serene and tranquil without the hustle and bustle of the crowds. As such, you won't find eateries, massage joints etc right at your door step. However, they are not too far away though... About 2 streets / 10 mins walk away.

The hotel was only one month old when I stayed and everything is very very new, clean and awesome. The pillows were firm, the shower was hot, the towels were clean, the sheets smelt fresh etc etc.

With the price that I paid, I had a huge room with a king-sized bed, balcony, bathtub, standing shower, TV, mini fridge, bedroom slippers and breakfast. It was really a steal...!! Couldn't believe my good fortune.

Right outside the temple that was directly beside the hotel, there is a City Bus that goes all the way to the Chiangmai International Airport and it only costs me THB 20. Grab / Cab would have costs me about THB 180 to 200.

The staff were friendly, kind and helpful and assisted me with the directions, taxi and bus services etc even without me asking.

Was really glad that I had such an awesome stay at this hotel.
