Stay at Hotel Valley Ho if you want to experience what Scottsdale was like when it was a small town.
Pros:

Our room was in Wing 5, so it had a view of the small of the hotels two pools from our patio. I love the 1950s Art Deco decor and atmosphere of the whole hotel and it was echoed in our lovely room. The mattress, towels, shower, and products were all high quality. Stepping onto the grounds of the Hotel Valley Ho is like stepping back into what Scottsdale was like in the 1950s and 60s, and it's luxurious.

Cons:

The room had "mood lighting," but even when you use that setting, some of the bright lights still come on. I understand that if you are just using the pool during the daytime, you have to charge $28 for parking, but if you are paying for a room, that fee should be included.

Pros:

The hotel its self was good.

Cons:

The room I had was in the back by the streets. No good view. The room it self had not been updated like the others around the pool. The air conditioner was not strong and made it hard to sleep. Because of being by the streets alarm for sliding door kept going off. No elevator.

The staff was really nice. The ZUZU restaurant was really nice and food was great. The hotel is very upscale, clean and friendly staff.

Cons:

They didn't offer complementary breakfast. You had to go outside for ice. They didn't offer happy hour.

We love Valley Ho!
Pros:

Valley Ho has a nice balance of loud fun/play, but can easily pull away from calm and quiet rest. The drinks at the pool and restaurant were great. Even when looking for Mocktails. Food was fresh with, again, many options for indulging or keeping up with healthy options!

Fabulous Resort, Perfect Location, One of a Kind!
Pros:

We absolutely loved our 4-night off-season stay here and vow to return when the temperature is lower to fully enjoy the hotel and city. It is an easy 15 minute drive from the airport and in easy walking distance of Old Town, the Arts District, and some of Scottsdale's very best restaurants. You'll recognize design elements if you tour Taliesin West and, indeed, Valley Ho was designed by one of FL Wright's students. It is a mid-century modern extravaganza and the vibe creates an entirely laid back and relaxing ambience like no other place. By all means spring for a ground level cabana room and don't pass up the chance to eat at ZuZu -- we did twice for dinner and our meals were superb. The main pool is terrific fun, noisy at times, but there is also a quieter, smaller pool nearby. So much to love about this place but it's the staff that really shines, from the valet guys to the bar and restaurant staff to the pool crew, they all love and are great at what they do. Look up the hotel's architectural history and what Hollywood stars have stayed there through the years. This place rocks.
