Good location-that’s about it.
Pros:

The location was great it was central to everything we had planned.

Cons:

The walls were paper thin. It was so unpleasant to have to hear someone’s whole conversation and hear them coughing and hacking. Some of the staff at the check in desk/lobby were more helpful and welcoming than others. We were told in an email that we would get complementary bottled water but the rooms had $7 per bottle waters marked making me hesitant to even ask. Paint is chipping on doors and trim. Bathroom tub looks outdated. But at least everything seemed clean.

Caro pero cómodo y bien ubicado.
Pros:

A Beautiful, Quiet Retreat in the Heart of Chicago
Pros:

I had a wonderful stay at the Allegro Royal Sonesta Chicago and would absolutely return.

The first thing that stood out was how quiet my room was. Despite being in downtown Chicago, I heard virtually no outside noise during my stay. No city traffic, no sirens, no trains, and no noise from neighboring rooms. The only sound I noticed was a brief conversation in the hallway on my last morning, and even that was minimal. It made for an incredibly restful stay.

My Deluxe King room was spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully maintained. The room is on the smaller side by typical American hotel standards, but I would describe it as “European-sized” rather than cramped. As a solo traveler, it was perfect for my needs, and I imagine larger room categories would provide even more space.

The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the overall cleanliness of the room was excellent. Housekeeping did a fantastic job throughout my stay.

The location was ideal. Whether I was using Uber or walking, everything was easy to access. Arriving after a delayed flight in the middle of the night was seamless, and every pickup and drop-off throughout my trip was convenient.

This was also a solo trip for me, and as a woman traveling alone, I felt very safe throughout my stay. I arrived late at night after travel delays, explored the city on my own, and never felt uncomfortable returning to the hotel. The location, staff presence, and overall atmosphere gave me a strong sense of security and ease, which made a significant difference in my experience.

What truly sets this hotel apart is its personality. The Art Deco design is stunning and gives the property a dramatic, elegant character that feels unique compared to many modern hotels. I genuinely enjoyed spending time in the public spaces. The lounge areas, pool table, street views, restaurant, and bar all contributed to a welcoming atmosphere.

The staff were kind and professional throughout my stay. While my interactions with the front desk were brief and businesslike, everyone else I encountered, including the restaurant staff, bartender, and housekeeping team, was warm and helpful. Special thank you to Bellman Shikar J. and Bartender Raphael, your stories and kindness were appreciated.

The food and drinks were excellent, the amenities were enjoyable, and the overall value for the price was outstanding.

I’ve stayed at several Chicago hotels, and this one immediately became a favorite. When my husband and I return to Chicago, choosing between this hotel and our previous favorite will be difficult because I enjoyed my stay here that much.

Highly recommended.
