L’emplacement

This COULD be a great hotel. The staff is truly nice, the rooms are relatively clean and the hotel property is stunning. But issues which are unfortunate make it impossible to give this hotel a better review. They include a serious issue with hot water. Every member of our party had the same in their room every day we stayed and ended up taking cold showers. Clearly a pervasive issue and so unacceptable. The rooms are also too dark with inadequate overall lighting. The bathroom also needed an illuminating mirror. Finally, the elevators are too complex and you end up waiting constantly and need an engineering degree to use them. Could be a much better hotel. But someone needs to dial into the details!
It was great to have 2 king size beds in our room; the patio with outdoor shower was a wonderful benefit
The patio furniture was musty and stained; there was a very loud wedding lasting until 11:00 right below our room and we were not informed of that ahead of time.
We stayed at this hotel for three weeks in February. It was our second longer term stay at the hotel, and we enjoyed it once again. The hotel rooms surround a beautiful courtyard filled with palm trees, plants and fountains. This space establishes the vibe for the hotel. The hotel is older with a lot of character and the rooms are comfortable. The construction of the building doesn't allow for a lot of natural light in the rooms, but we enjoyed the spacious balcony.
The hotel is located steps away from the restaurants and commercial area of Coconut Grove. We also found it very easy to explore other Miami environs from this location including Little Havana, Wynwood, Coral Gables, Key Biscayne, South Beach and the Everglades.
The breakfast included with the stay was very good and the staff attentive. Specifically, we'd like to recognize Emily, Lorenzo, Kaylan, and Marlene for their great service.
We also got to know the valet staff well! Miguel, William, Carlos, Fabrizio, and Lazaro were all very professional and helpful. They were always very prompt in getting our car to us when we needed it and offered helpful advice.
The only area of the hotel that needs some improvement is housekeeping. The staff was very friendly but sometimes we needed to make multiple requests to receive what we asked for.
Beautiful looking hotel but when we checked in our room wasnt ready we were told we would be either messaged or called but no one contacted us at all.Room was lovely but the bed wasnt made properly the sheets were not tucked in at all. No Iron or board i had to ask for one and that did arrive the next morning. Valet parking did seem quick but it just felt like everyone was just after a huge tip !! Breakfast we waited 15 mins for a table once seated i asked could i just have 2 toast which was on the sides menu at a cost of $6 i was told it wasnt on the main menu so would be charged for it ,even though I didnt want the main costing $22 it just didnt make sense .Pool area was lovely but cocktails are very expensive .Overall nice hotel but I wouldnt go back .We did meet a lovely staff member called Michael but only once .Room cleaners came back on the 2nd day to clean but at 330pm we were resting before we went out for the evening .so told them no .I found it very frustrating staying at this hotel not relaxing at all !! We had previously tried to contact the hotel as this was a special trip for our 40th wedding anniversary they failed to contact us at all .Grwat shame !!
This hotel should be protected as an historic architectural gem. Loved the 80s design and detail. Service was great, rooms charming and clean. Ideal location. Pool nice. Loved the claw footed tub in the room. Everyday Yoga excellent and made the stay worth it! Coffee each morning much appreciated. It’s the small amenities that make a huge difference.
This beautiful hotel is perfectly located but service was uneven. From the hotel, it's an easy walk to scores of restaurants and shops, many directly across the street. As noted by others, valet is very quick and there are also several parking garages just a few steps away. While we noticed a number of weddings and celebrations during our stay, the hotel seemed to handle the traffic well and although one weekend evening had a band on the roof, we enjoyed it. The rooftop pool is small but lovely. The central garden is gorgeous and the second floor offers seating by the fountains. The rooms themselves are dark but we enjoyed the respite from the heat and from our 5th floor location, the balcony was sufficient when we wanted a bit more light. Breakfast and room service offerings are limited but adequate. In our five day stay, we found the service very uneven. We often made requests multiple times with different staff, particularly to get the room tidied and restocked and also in restaurants to get our full orders to the table. Everyone was very nice but seems a bit disorganized and for the price, we did expect a better experience. Common areas appeared spotless.
Fernando , Dakota , Simon and ariana made all the difference . Best service we’ve ever had .
Rooms very dark: lighting was terrible. No fan in interior bathroom. Electric (fuse) blew twice due to old wiring. But breakfast was very good. Rooftop pool and bar very nice.
We had such a great experience. Both Eduardo & Fernando were so helpful & accommodating. This was my third stay & it was an elegant & very comfortable way to celebrate mom’s birthday.
Nothing! Great place, staff, amenities.
Unique, fun hotel
Very comfortable Hotel with nice roof Top Bar and Pool. Hotel staff was very friendly. Close to Shops and. Restaurant at Coconut Grove.
Roof top pool and bar. Lovely room with good service.
Restaurant quite small.
The staff were wonderful, and the architecture is world-class. Unfortunately, the suite we were in felt very neglected. The windows needed serious cleaning, and the upholstery was faded, torn, and/or stained. It was also fairly noisy at night, due to loud partying in the neighborhood on the weekend nights, and general traffic noise other times. With some TLC, this could be a world-class hotel, but it definitely wasn't worth the price, and did not feel like a luxury hotel like it probably used to be.
5+ The service is excellent. Nikole is a fabulous yoga teacher. Breakfast has been perfect. Gym has everything needed. Spectacular little oasis.
Phenomenal stay. A great mix of luxury and home feeling. Staff, especially Fernando, personally went above and beyond.
We landed in Miami because we could not get back to the West Coast due to the many airline cancellations. The greeters were very nice and helpful. They also made some great restaurant recommendations. The neighborhood is wonderful, family-friendly, and feels very safe. The hotel's vibe and architecture are iconic — really a work of art. The rooftop pool and bar offered a serene, yet fun, escape. Really, a wonderful experience, and I was happy to get to see this slice of Miami life. I would love to come back.
The only negative was that we asked for a late checkout and were denied. Its' OK to be denied because of staffing arrangements. However, we were told that the hotel was "fully booked". It was not even close to being booked and/or busy on a Tuesday. Management, please don't tell your employees to lie, have them say "unfortunately we cannot accommodate your request, but we have these options...." Lying has become too commonplace these days; let's all do better. (As a side, we met people at the pool, who just didn't ask and brought their suitcases up to the pool, stayed the afternoon, and changed in the changing rooms. And no, they did not ask permission.)
No doubt, the location is great if you want to be in the heart of Coconut Grove. However, be prepared for dark, dated rooms with no view. It was so dim in the room, it made me think it wasn’t clean. Our room was not cleaned the next day, even when we were asked what time we wanted the room to be cleaned. The music from the wedding downstairs kept us up. I understand that there are lots of weddings at this location and they are allowed to play music until 11:00 pm. Many of our invoices were incorrect and we are still trying to sort it out. Fernando (at check-in) was very nice but ultimately had to “punt” issues up to management to follow up on.
