The Commercial Bar & Hotel

We were warned about it being loud at weekends but we booked for a Wednesday. They say that during the week it is ‘peaceful and relaxed’. This was not the case as one of the neighbouring bars had incredibly loud music / karaoke and the windows didn’t block any of this sound. I appreciate that the hotel doesn’t have control over the neighbouring bar, however it would make sense for them to invest in some better sound proofing in the rooms if noise is a constant issue in the hotel. Carpets going up to the room were also mouldy which didn’t give a great first impression!

The room needs some maintenance doing lighting in the bathroom on 2 bulbs working, the cold water pressure from sink was only a trickle, basically it just needs a a bit of maintenance and music on till 3am from next door on a Thursday night !!!!!!!

Parking was offered but was basically illegal parking by bin stores. Also we had to leave by 9am to avoid problems.
A pub below our window played Very load music till about 3am. Manager apologised and said it was unusual but I think it was a normal occurrence.
Of the7 lights in the bathroom only 1 worked.
Generally a tired hotel.

Furniture was slightly damaged and dated and in need of some tlc and repairs.

Unfortunately there was an inconsiderate couple in the room next to ours, and on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning decided to let the door slam at 4.00am, with no consideration for anybody, so how many people they woke up I don't know. And on Thursday morning at 7.00/7.30, a brewery delivery with metal kegs were being rolled along the concrete outside, due to having a delivery, so not a good couple of nights.

Unfortunately, my experience at this hotel was very negative. I felt disappointed and misled because one of the most important facilities I specifically checked before choosing the hotel was air conditioning. In hot weather, staying in a room without a working air conditioner was extremely difficult and unacceptable.
My room was located on the top floor, directly under the roof, which made the heat even more intense. In addition, the hotel is located in an area where live concerts take place in the evenings until around 2 a.m., and even after that people continued gathering outside until approximately 4 a.m. Opening the windows was not an option, because with the windows open the music was extremely loud and made it impossible to rest properly.
What disappointed me the most was the attitude of the staff. At first, they gave the impression that the air conditioner simply had not been switched on. Later, I was told that it was broken. However, there was already a fan in the room, which suggests that the problem with the air conditioning was known beforehand and that it had most likely not been working for some time.
I find it unfair that guests are not informed about such an important issue in advance. If I had known that the air conditioning was not working, especially during the summer heat and in a top-floor room under the roof, I would not have chosen this hotel. When booking, I relied on all the facilities and amenities listed in the description, and air conditioning was one of the most important ones.
What makes the situation even more disappointing is that the hotel did not offer any compensation or discount for this inconvenience. The hotel contacted me again shortly before my arrival to inform me about the live music, but I was never warned about the non-functioning air conditioner — a much more serious issue during hot weather.
