Breakfast is an excellent buffet with a wide variety of cuisines, including an omelet station. We asked for a were allocated a room Gezira Tower (with a Nile view as a complementary upgrade). I had stayed in a Nile view room on a lower floor in the Zamalet Tower in 2024 (for one night before being moved) and found the noise from the bridge unacceptable. All rooms in the hotel (I think) have balconies. The local area is pleasant to walk around and Ubers are very inexpensive for trips to the Old City, Giza and the airport. The views of the Nile are not particularly picturesque and frankly probably not worth the money. The View of the gardens is probably preferable. There is well equipped fitness centre and a lovely pool. I am very sensitive to perfume and the front desk provided me with a note in Arabic for the laundry to not use and scented products. The laundry came back as requested and the delivery man asked me to check to see if I was satisfied. We ate all our Hotel meals in the Garden Promenade cafe (as we only wanted meals on the lighter side) which were all excellent, but to pick as spot away from smokers was an issue. Fortunately, there was always a breeze and we could find a spot upwind. Great front of house staff, including reception and concierge desk.
The first room we were assigned had a noisy air conditioner. We asked for and were assigned another room. As we were moving, we saw maintenance come to attend to the unit, so full marks there. The second room had a very strong smell of cigarette smoke, despite being non smoking. The third and last room did very slight smell of smoke but with frequent airing, it was acceptable. (We were there for 6 nights and I am very sensitive to cigarette smoke and other irritants as above.) And there lies the problem, smoking is permitted on balconies even in non smoking room and in in a lot of public outside areas and smoke can drift in to the room through open balcony door and it gets into drapes and other fabrics in the rooms. On room on about level 1 of the Geizera Tower is about 3 metres from the entrance to the tower and there is a dedicated smoking area outside. The Hotel is very large with a wide variety of rooms wo when booking/checking in make your preferences very clear, and be happy before you unpack. Great service at the front desk and a special thanks to Hazem and Paula for their assistance. More accessible power points near the beds for phones.

Nothing, all was good
Housed in the former Gezira Palace, the central building is rather spectacular; it is flanked by two “boxes,” which contain most of the rooms. The hotel is a busy place, with regular weddings, banquets, and professional conferences. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and my room was comfortable, but not quite up-to-date, I’d say. There are no USB outlets, and, more importantly, connecting my computer to power for use in bed required me to unplug the bedside lamp, which could be solved by a simple multi-plug adapter. Of all the many friendly staff, I would like to especially thank Mohamed, the concierge, who was extremely kind, reliable, and helpful!
While all front desk staff were exceptionally efficient, I happened to get the one exception, G…a, three times. Upon arrival after noon, she told me my room was being readied and sent me to wait, without any follow-up. About an hour later, when I finally wondered what was happening, somebody else helped me immediately and apologized profusely, even offering a free drink. Another encounter also produced no results, except for surly behavior. Finally, at the end of my stay, upon checkout, G…a said it was “impossible” to issue a receipt, since the stay had been arranged via Booking. Again, she then suddenly disappeared, only for someone else to hand me the requested receipt. As the hotel, I would want to check up on this service irregularity among my staff. I am not exaggerating when I say that all others, whether at the front desk, breakfast, or in the restaurants, were outstanding, sometimes even remembering my name or room number, quite unbelievable. One nice addition would be a shop, on hotel grounds, with quality souvenirs, as available at many other hotels in Cairo of that class.
