Classy hotel in a great location.
Room was really clean and great room Service.
Location spot on. Rooms clean bed comfortable. Did not eat so cannot comment on food. Beautiful building.
The Clayton was a great hotel for a trip with my daughter. Unlike other hotels I looked into, they were able to guarantee us a room with 2 twin beds. The location is so convenient with Trams right outside but also an easy walk to all the key sites. We opted for buffet breakfast that had many options and restaurant is beautiful. Gym is well equipped. All the staff are very helpful. Overall, really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend.
The room was clean, the bed/pillows were comfortable and the location was perfect-close to everything and across from the canal offering great views!
The Clayton Hotel (now the American Hotel) is a lovely landmark hotel in a wonderful location. The staff were professional. Our canal side room was a lovely mix of old world elegance and modern convenience. Floor to ceiling casement window let in the crisp Amsterdam air while providing a very romantic ambiance. The bed was heavenly with quality linens. The bar and restaurant are right out of a European movie set and the location is perfect for museum goers or those looking for the gay nightlife scene.

The perfect location for most of the must see attractions in the city.
Tram and taxis right outside and many restaurant options within walking distance.
One area for improvement is changing up the breakfast buffet food options once in a while. Not everyone wants an egg every morning.
The historical aspect of the property was lovely. It’s kept up very well. The daily cleaning service is wonderful. We never got a ride except for the airport, as everything is very walkable, so many options for food, drinks, shopping, and museums.
