No heat in room. Thermostat broken
location
old, rug was dirty, bathroom flooded, safe did not work
I stay in Chicago a lot for work but typically stay at other Marriott properties because I prefer hotels that do not have carpet in the rooms. I chose this hotel so my kids could take in the view of the city. There are 2 main issues with this hotel- the first issue is the HVAC system. We got in our room and it was 74 degrees so I turned the thermostat to 68, and within 5 minutes, it was 80 degrees in the room. When I called the front desk about this, they advised me to turn the thermostat to 72 because there is no actual A/C, only heat due to their old and outdated HVAC system. What?!? That’s crazy. So I did that, and hours later, it’s 75 degrees and I can’t get it any cooler in here. Also, the windows are very thin and it is SO loud. We can hear tons of noise from rooms around us as well as the street below. Again, I am used to staying in downtown Chicago with city noise but these windows are so thin. Additionally, with the thin windows, it kind of feels unsafe right at the window of the room. I don’t want my kids going near the window because it seems so thin and not very secure. I googled this issue and found an article where a window did fall out of this hotel- scary. Additionally, it is after midnight and we are all lying here awake because there is music blasting and it’s so loud we can’t sleep. Marriott needs to update this property stat and do something about the HVAC and windows!
Great location , suite was great with a nice view of the city. Lobby and bar was beautifully decorated for the holidays.
Very pleased.
Marriott Titanium.
One date night stay.
Pros:
- Location: walkable to everything you need.
- Gym: huge with everything you may want/need to get a good workout in.
- Room: was upgraded to top floor suite. Was spacious with a great view.
Cons:
- Lounge: felt small and a bit lacking for a hotel this size. Everyone was nice and professional, but a bit small and not much amenities when not serving breakfast. Was not able to get a cup of coffee.
Would stay again.
