Good location, good service, noisy dated room
Pros:

Good location, good service, building and room feels a little dated, very noisy room with street noise and pipes that rattle on the walls.

Wonderful team members, great hotel
Pros:

Great location, great staff and amenities. I was attending GBTA conference and arrived early for an easier week. Chris (bellman) greeted us the moment we stepped out of the uber, assisted us, asked how long is our stay, our departure time and arranged for a 3am cab service!! This is hospitality and thinking ahead for the guest. Louise (front desk) was absolutely lovely! We met her in the elite member checkin and she was a delight! Asked us about checkin what brings us here is it our first time did we need assistance with what to see. She also shared our room was ready and told me the room type as asked if that was ok? We checked in got tomorrow room and what a view! As a hotel employee I’m
Mindful of sustainability and our housekeepers schedule. So i tend to Opt out of daily service. Each day when i left for the conference Angelina (housekeeper) was nearby she said i see you have privacy on door do you need anything? She asked me this each day, great level of service. We checked out at 3am i retrieved my bill and the young lady at the desk names escapes me in my because it too early but she was just as pleasant and professional as the team members. I look forward to coming back and thank you to everyone. Oh and they had the GBTA SHUTTLE SERVICE hours posted in the lobby!!! How convenient is that.

Pros:

The location was great! Had access to many of the highest sought after parts of the city as well as so many options for food. The staff was great the room size was decent, and the rush street pantry waa very convenient serving hot breakfast, fresh pastry, and a limited Starbucks coffee menu.

Cons:

For the price of the room the bed and pillows were extremely uncomfortable as well as the lighting and, ventilation in the bathroom were sub par. We had dinner one night at the reviver the staff was pleasant and the drinks were good, but the food was not great

Limited In-Room Menu
Pros:

The Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile is an above-average hotel in downtown Chicago. I would have liked more in-room dining options, especially in the evenings, and I did find someone else’s hair elastic under my bed, but overall, the service was good and the room was comfortable.

High Anxiety on Mountain of Excuses
Pros:

Room/ suite on 46th floor exceptional layout. Clean. Very Good car valet.

Cons:

Street noise on top floor 46th was disappointing,
Poor communication to no communication regarding hotel amenities at check-in . Very long line at check-in due to poorly trained staff. 1 out of 3 knew what she was doing. I saw one uniform check-in staff inability to communicate with Chinese patrons by saying floor number louder + louder instead of writing it down or using a translation app on her cell phone. She spent 20 mins. with 1 couple. No pre-check-in or check-out offered. Hundreds checking in at one time due to under-staffing at desk and housekeeping. Wi-Fi not included?

5-star prices (over $600 per night), 0-star service.
Pros:

The hotel was completely sold out for WNBA All-Star Weekend. You would think the General Manager would have anticipated the demand and staffed the property accordingly. You would be wrong.

The problems started at check-in. Even at 9:00 p.m., the line stretched endlessly with only one employee working the front desk. After charging premium rates, the hotel couldn't be bothered to provide enough staff to get guests checked in within a reasonable amount of time.

The Concierge Lounge was an even bigger disappointment. It was a complete joke. Guests had to wait for someone to bring out plates, then wait again for glasses. Bread? Don't even ask—it hadn't been replenished for hours. Basic items were constantly empty, and no one seemed interested in keeping the lounge stocked or functional.

The conclusion is simple: this hotel has mastered charging luxury prices while delivering bargain-basement service. Selling out for a major event isn't an excuse for poor operations—it's exactly when a well-managed hotel should be at its best. Instead, management appeared completely unprepared, leaving guests to pay premium rates for an experience that fell far below even basic expectations.

Stay away by all means!

Great location, but not really a room for 3 adults
Pros:

The location is excellent, right in the heart of the Magnificent Mile, a very short walk to the river and about ten minutes to the lake. The hotel works well if you care most about being central and having easy access to the main Chicago sights.

The room, however, was not suitable for three adults as booked. It was on the smaller side, the king bed took most of the space, and there was no realistic way to add our 15‑year‑old son to the room, so we had to arrange for him to stay elsewhere, which defeated the purpose of booking a room for three.

The lounge access was also disappointing and felt misleading. We booked a room with lounge access but found that it closed at 12:00 pm, with only a very basic breakfast available until 10:00 am and no functioning lounge for the rest of the day.

Elevators were another pain point. We were on the 41st floor, and although the hotel seemed fully booked, it looked like only two or three of the six elevators were consistently in service. We regularly needed 5–10 minutes just to get an elevator, which became a daily annoyance.

Overall, the hotel offers a strong location, yet the room configuration, the limited lounge access, and the elevator issues made the stay less comfortable than expected.
